    shoulder fired?

I always wanted to mount my 2"bore cannon on the front of a boat and slowly move along the shores of a lake in the morning fog and come up on a big moose by the waters edge and blast him with a cannon ball. I bet it would air him out just fine.

PBS The War That Made America

    PBS War of 1812

The book is a much more detailed account of what was done in the video, together they were very good and gave a good overveiw of the events that happened. These items are not a detailed study of the period but are well worth the money. You can also read "the crucible of war" much more detailed...

    PBS War of 1812

You are correct, the F&I Show was the War that Made America, the narrator was Graham Greene who played the medicine chief in Dances w/wolves. how do you get deer ribs off deer

For Deer and Moose i use my hatchet to cut along the backbone and to split the brisket with. A sharp hatchet makes short work of ribs. This is what i do in the field to get them out. Once at home when i start proccessing the meat, i use a sawzall to make a nice clean cut for packaging.

    First model Brown Bess

I dont own a LLP bess but i do have a Bess Carbine that is very accurate out to 50 yards and has worked well on two moose i shot, those big balls have alot of knockdown power.

    PBS War of 1812

I watched it and when they showed all the riflemen carrying cva pecussion Hawken rifles i changed the channel. The only accurate guns shown were what the british were carrying. This has become typical of most shows of this kind.

    Rifled Smoothbore?

The problem i see is that the barrel of a tulle is too thin to cut rifeling into. My buddy has one and the muzzle is pretty thin. if you cut it shorter you might have enough meat to work with. I would not want to weaken the barrel by cutting grooves. I would try to fins another barrel to use.

    projectiles

I generaly use a cast lead ball for my 2" field gun.I have also used concrete and plaster, both held up to firing and exploded in a cloud of dust on impact with a log wall, it was a very cool effect. Be sure of your backstop, golf balls will bounce violently in random directions including back...

    Exploding Powder Horn

I just read a story on cnn about an heirloom gift of an old powder horn exploding when the teenage recipient threw it onto the floor. The story is weird and not well detailed, i dougt the horn just exploded on impact but might be possible if the powder had crystalized and leached thru the horn...

    Steel shot

I am surprised that the BBs are working and putting any sort of pattern. I tried a load like this 20 years ago and did not get good results. I shot several rabbits with this combo and they ran off after being hit, the range was under 25 yards. I finnished them off with lead after tracking them...
