    Builder Sitting Fox?

Does anyone have any information, good, bad or ugly about Sitting Fox Muzzleloaders. They have a couple nice looking small gauge fowlers I may be interested in, I've never heard of them and am looking for feedback. PM is fine if you would rather not make a public posting.

    Flintlock double

Several years ago a fella named Richard Smith was written up in Muzzleloader magazine as building double flintlock shotguns. Anyone here ever seen one? I have a lead on one for sale and am wondering if I should drop the hammer or pass. Thanks. Hawkeye

    Best Bess

Not a question of "beating it up to look used" but a question of it not being "right" that is to say not matching surviving examples from the period, you know, wrong barrel length, wrong hardware, wrong markings etc. I know for some who just want a shooter it doesn't matter but for others being...

    smoothbore dilema

Well, the gun may or may not hold or increase in value. Then on the otherhand you need to assign a value to the enjoyment it will bring you as opposed to watching the investment do whatever it is doing. My vote is buy the gun and enjoy it. Hawkeye

    Where to find Tow?

Not hard to find at all, any spinning/weaving supply place sells it. Took me less than a minute to find this place. http://www.woolery.com/Pages/fibers.html#flax Tow is $20 per pound, that is a mess of tow.

    Finally got a Bess

Nice deal on the Bess. As far as finding tow,I've found M/L suppliers a little too proud of it. check evilbay, found it there for $7.00 for a quarter pound, or do a web search for spinning supplies. Found it here http://www.woolery.com/Pages/fibers.html#flax for $20 per pound.

    Price Check-Pedersoli SxS

I don't have any experience with tubes in BP guns but do have some with supository guns. Assuming they are installed and fit properly they should pose no trouble. Just pull them and clean and lubricate the threads after shooting.

    Chain fire Question

There is an interesting article in the Nov 2009 Muzzle Blasts about chain fires in percussion revolvers. The Bevel Brothers had a tussle getting one to chain fire on purpose. I highly suggest it as a good read. Hawkeye

    Is A muzzleloader A firearm?

It depends on where you live. Some states have much more restrictive laws than the Feds. According to the Feds, muzzleloading guns made before 1898 or reproductions of muzzleloading guns made before 1898 are generally not considered firearms under Federal law.

    Dixons Gunmakers Fair

DD, I don't know how you are getting to Dixon's from Michigan, but if you are driving I-80 West to I-81 South to get to get here J&J is not really out of the way considering the trip from Mi. J & J Pyrotechnics Mfg., Inc. 1058 State Route 502 Spring Brook TWP, PA 18444 570-842-3411, Fax...

    A few cleaning questions.

"three: Ammonia or non ammonia windex?" I would NOT use Windex with ammonia on my guns. I have been using windex with vinegar multi-surface cleaner for several years now with good results. I picked the idea up from BPCR shooters.

    Sources of Black Powder

From Jersey why not cut about 15 miles off the trip each way and go to Dixon's Muzzleloading Shop in Kempton. I assume you come in to Pa on I-78 if so you pass the exit for his place. Well worth the time for a stop.

Goex delivered @ $9.75 per pound

"And for the person asking how far from Chambersburg, there's a distributor in Winchester, VA. that may be closer. From J&J to Chambersburg is about 170 miles." There is or at least used to be a place on Route 743 between Hershey and E-Town.
