    Reenactor Powder

Question was asked on another forum about this. My understanding is that it's for "blank" firing. Maybe some wadding to hold it in place? No use for normal shooting? Thanks

    First Shot Throwing Wild?

Even swabbing after your first shot, still likely a wee bit of fouling which could contribute to better obturation. Might make a difference. Swabbing between subsequent shots should help maintain a consistent level of fouling. Will suggest that maybe you're not cleaning out your barrel as well...

    Mink Oil

Try it both ways and see what works best for you. For a short time I melted lubes and dipped my patches to saturate them. Didn't do it long enough to get past french fried patches. Didn't like the shooting results and quit after a short time. Maybe with more experience.....

Hudson Bay Blanket, made of gold?

Yep. Hudson Bay must think their blankets are spun out of pure gold. My observation is anything with The Bay name on it is over priced.

Theory of patched round ball load development.

My understanding of ballistics is that for max accuracy you need the projectile leaving the muzzle at the same point in barrel harmonics. There are variables that you can play with to achieve this; powder type, charge and grain size, patch and ball combo, lube, etc. Play with them as much you...

New guy(ish) with 3 new guns, have a few questions as to working up the proper loads

Easy solution. A 4 inch powder column for a base or a 4 inch over powder wad. Kidding. Sucks to find that out. Could complicate things if you want to take it hunting.

    Alberta Shoots

Living on the road for the past 8 months. Have neglected to renew my ABPA membership. Any shoots planned for this year?

    Lead

Back when I was actively casting, I would buy mine from a metal supplier, for a couple of reasons. Not as cheap or satisfying as scrounging but reliable quality and availability.

Question about 3/8ths dovetail on gpr

The couple of times I've fitted a new sight, I set it up to file the sight base. Figured if I messed it up, could get a new sight easier and cheaper than barrel work (or replacement).

    TC renegade stock

Brass screw(s) and file the head off. If you can work some glue/epoxy or whatever in there as well, it'd be reassuring.

    Long Range Roundball Accuracy?

What I was referring to in my example was the difference between your two calibers. One much heavier (and larger) than the other. Never measured them but I would think the golf and ping pong balls would be a lot more similar in caliber.

What have you done, or do, to improve/maintain a consistent shooting score?

Upper body workouts and maybe some cardio. Lots of practice holding aim for a time, dry fire and focus on follow through. If you have the luxury at a competition, take the time to ensure your position and hold have your sights pointing naturally at the target. Minimize pulling your sights...

    Long Range Roundball Accuracy?

A .54 should work better. But the .45 could work quite nicely as well. Gotta try it for yourself. Not a good comparison given you're comparing two balls with a relatively significant difference in size as well as weight, but; throw a golf ball and a ping pong ball. Which has better ballistics?

    Random fliers...

Late to this game but, a cheap alternative lube is spit patches. I have found that too greasy/oily/slippery a patch doesn't give a good a result as a drier one. IIRC, Dutch's book gives a range of mixtures, 7/1 just seemed to be the best on average. Others will disagree with me, personal...

    Rendezvous?

If you join the Alberta Black Powder Association, the newsletter gives info on quite a number of get togethers, including a couple below the Medicine Line. Golden has one that sounds interesting and not that far away.
