    Shortened 1-66 .45 rifle

My brother is up in the mountains right now. I spoke to one of his sons about the rifle. He thinks the barrel was cut down to 25-26”. It really does look well proportioned. And, it’s a shooter. my brother will be back in a few days. I can confirm the length then. At least this gives you...

Before you start chopping, I’ll contact my brother with the shortened rifle and ask what the barrel length is, if you like.

    What did I buy?

I think it’s just the lighting on the cylinder and arbor that make it look odd. Light does bend slightly around curves.:dunno::cool:

    Thompson center help

If you look inside the barrel channel on the stock, there might be the letter ‘K’ stamped into the wood. That would indicate it was a kit gun. If you look around the bottom flats of the barrel toward the breach end, there could be a ‘K’ there. If there are no markings like that, then it...

    Shortened 1-66 .45 rifle

My brother shortened a CVA Kentucky many years ago. He made it more kid friendly. He used it to train his boys on, and now his grandchildren. Last year, his granddaughter took first place in a pee wee shoot with that rifle. Her younger brother took second place using the same rifle, if I...

    A little dissapointed

Often times, it’s best is to do the work by hand. Some learning, satisfaction, and sometimes disappointment. All beneficial.

Egg shaped vent hole on flintlock Pistol

I had two ’custom’ rifles built several years ago. The individual who built them was in my estimation extremely careless. He drilled the vent hole on one rifle that was obviously oval shaped. He installed a vent liner in the oval shape vent hole that he drilled. The liner gave way after only...
