    Addicted to the Smoothie !

I had the opportunity to get away from caregiver duties yesterday and do a quick walk thru the ranch where I was basically raised. Lots of pig sign but as the thermometer reached toward 80 degrees, I saw my opportunity waning to jump a sleeping pig out of its wallow. I searched thru several...

Stoney, I really don’t even attempt to hunt deer anymore. Hogs are just too much fun.

    Opinions Needed

Shoot em. They are delicious. And much easier to deal with. Edit! And I understand your situation. If not for my oldest son, it would be extremely difficult for my gimp a** to still be able to elk hunt.

Big Game- Elk, Venison, Bear and such.

I’m an elkaholic. I always use pure lard. I dust with self rising flour, mebbe a few panko crumbs if I got em, and a good dose of Tony Chachere in with mix. I say to he** with my cardiologist. (He gives me pills anyway!). Life is too short to not ejoy good CF elk cutlets on a regular basis...

    How far could you hunt?

I concur. When Elk hunting, if after a bull l, first legal critter I can get a good ethical shot at, gets shot. Generally I try for dry cows now. No use for those horns anymore.

    How far could you hunt?

My eyes are getting bad. I doubt there will be many future 100 yard shots. Even tho I did manage a kill at 140 paces with open sights with a 105 y o unmentionable last November. But it’s gettin’ lots harder to see sights. Gonna try elk this fall. Missed last season and I’m about out of my...

Green River Rifle Works Leman Trade Gun

My old hunting pard from Albuquerque hunted with a flint .54 fullstock GRRW Leman. Man, I loved that rifle! He was with me when horse, me, and 1/2 stock Leman pictired above took a bit of a tumble down a mountainside not far from Mt. Sheridan in SW Gila, NM. He just kinda sat there on his mule...

    "Roasted corn leaves"?

When I was young I always thought that was one of the main causes of starvation in China. They didn’t let the corn mature before they ate it! :D

    "Roasted corn leaves"?

Thought about getting me a pkg of corn husk tamale wrappins (there in season now) and try scraping em thin to fabricate some of them Taos cigaritos. Gasp! Yeah to smoke. Sorry nyckname. Didn’t mean to hijack the thread.

    "Roasted corn leaves"?

“Franklin may have been referring to the practice of roasting ears of corn in the husk,” Yup! Way we always did it. Sometimes if we had time, we soak ‘em in water for a bit before throwin’ em on the fire.

    "Roasted corn leaves"?

Regardless, neither sounds too appetizing. Except tamales. Tamales rock. Especially home made tamales.

    "Roasted corn leaves"?

I remember President Ford tryin’ to eat a tamale without removing the shuck. But that’s about it.
