    Dove shot size?

After decades of shooting doves with 8 shot in modern shotguns, I found that 6 shot works better for me in my ML guns - especially when targeting the Eurasian Collared Doves which seem to be displacing Mourning Doves in Eastern Washington. I use a scoop that throws a little over an ounce of...

    Looks like i got burned

I was buying gold for around $1300 per oz a couple years back - buying a few ounces here and there when I could afford them. Now it's almost two grand an ounce! It seems like everything is up about fifty percent. I'm not sure we're ever going back to where we were just three or four years ago...

    Looks like i got burned

"No second place" said to ask fishing guys how much they pay per fish. I'm making his point - hobbies like ours, shooting, hunting, fishing - they're just expensive! Now that I think about the boat and all the broken gear - I'm not sure a hundred bucks a pound for catching fresh salmon will...

    Looks like i got burned

I can buy fresh salmon for ten or fifteen bucks a pound - but I can catch fresh salmon for somewhere around a hundred bucks per pound, not counting my time. Well worth it, I'd say!! :)

    Best Shot You Ever Had

Jackrabbit - 165 paces with a TC .54 Hawken. Offhand. Percussion. PRB. 100 grains fff. I'd like to say we took him home and made a gourmet jackrabbit dinner, but, alas that was a different place and time. (Read about the Mud Lake Bunny Bash that took place in 1981 and you might forgive me...

    too complicated

Longcruise - I don't know you or the OP - probably both upstanding people. I do know that the OP has been a member for a couple months, with almost no interactions - while you have been a member for almost two decades and have several thousand messages and reactions. If you posted an item for...

Maybe I should mind my own business but wouldn't doing that violate everything we are trying to do to reduce fraud?

What is your preferred brand of #11 percussion caps

If I had the luxury of trying a few, I'd go with whatever fit the nipple on my gun best. Since that is not likely, I'd buy whatever I could find and fit the nipple on my gun (with a little sanding or light tapping) to the caps I could get my hands on.

    Lightfoot

I've been listening to a few of his songs tonight. It's amazing how many great musicians we've lost in the past year. I'll grab an acoustic guitar and play one or two of his songs before calling it a day. I like tributes - and I really like yours. Here's to your new rifle: "Lightfoot!"

Help with an 1851 Navy, alignment?

I may have misunderstood your comment, but it sounds like you might be looking for a carry firearm? If that is the case, I really don't think a black powder gun is the answer. Great hobby, etc. but not the right weapon when someone's life is on the line. Either way, best of luck with your new...

I've never shot TSS but I do have a friend who shoots mixed TSS loads in an UM and the range is fantastic!

    Heavy shot

Well I guess we can both be embarassed! When I bought it I thought for sure it was denser than lead. I probably still would except I was trying to figure out why penetration was so poor on birds!
