Rear sight substitute for T/C Seneca >45

Just food for thought, but the Cherokee came with a bead front sight and bead type rear sight. Other than that, they're the same as the Seneca's and I happen to have a messed up Cherokee barrel with good sights that I'd consider swapping for your Seneca sights. I don't know if that would cure...

    tc new englander front sight

Have you tried tapping both directions? The dovetail will often have a slight taper from one side to make it easier to start the base. Usually you tap the sight in from right to left and remove it left to right. Otherwise I hope the oil works. Dave

    .45 Seneca

I've taken two mulie bucks with my 45 Seneca and T/C maxi-hunters/70 gr of Goex 2f. Neither were instant kills and required second shots (both high hits above the lungs, my fault) I found one maxi and the others went on through. Penetration wasn't a problem and with better shooting, they...

    .54???

Lots of good information here. I'm sure everyone would agree with Capt Jas that all of us are built differently. Something you might try with your Lyman is to close your eyes and throw the gun to your shoulder like you would naturally. Open your eyes and see how things are lined up. Do this...

    Reborin a barrel

Just to throw in my $.02. About 2 years ago, I picked up a NIB 54 barrel for my New Englander from Numrich Arms for $79. I don't think they have one right now, but they do come into lots of parts from auctions, gunstore sellouts, etc. If you don't need a new barrel right this minute, you...

    Michigan's improved ML regulations

Pete A little of topic, but it's nice to see a familiar name once in a while. I still have the Cherokee you sold me a couple of years ago and managed to find a steal of a price on a NIB .32 barrel for it. It's a great little gun. Dave

    fork horn deer

Sounds like a great day away from work! I'm headed over to the west side on Saturday for 2 weeks of chasing elk. It's been pretty wet over here on the east side, so the goretex and wool is going to get a workout again. What unit were you hunting? Dave

    Patriot barrel

Teach There are two on ebay right now if you want to go that route. They come up fairly often, but go for pretty steep prices too. Dave

    Legal Muzzleloader WA State?

Chep I posted a little too quick. It would be legal for big game but as others said, not for turkeys. It's shotguns (modern or muzzleloader) and archery only for them. I too have not seen a turkey on the west side of the state, but only because they are pretty scattered and they haven't...

    Legal Muzzleloader WA State?

Chep Yes it is legal. I'm sure you probably will, but before you decide on a new rifle, you might look at a few used guns. If you check the top ad in the classified section, there is a used T/C .50 Renegade for what seems to be a pretty good price depending on it's condition. A gun like that...

    TC Seneca barrel length

Seneca barrels are 27", but Cherokees are 24" and they'll fit if the rear portion of the rib is shortened a bit. The wedge locations are the same for both. Cherokees have bead front sights whereas Senecas have a blade.

    .62cal shooters in the MLF?

Bill Not yet, but I just sent off a new .62 GM smoothbore barrel to Ed Rayl to have it rifled. (Thank you very much!) Hopefully I'll be using it next fall on a nice Roosevelt bull. Dave

    .58 renegade

FW I'd be really interested to see your creation and talk to you about parts, etc. I've been thinking about doing exactly the same thing. In the end, I think your right about not having much T/C stuff left on it. Probably just the triggers and tang. Dave

Johnson I'll be there again. Wouldn't miss it unless I was on my deathbed! Dave

    Need help with GPR

If it was me, I'd go with the replacement barrel and keep the original for a project. You could use it for practice cutting dovetails and keep the parts for making a new barrel down the road. I picked up an abused T/C Cherokee barrel for next to nothing with that thought in mind, but I just...

    Maxi-Hunter performance on game?

pab1 I've taken 2 large mulie bucks with the .45 maxi hunter (home cast) and 70 gr of Goex 2F and in both cases on quartering chest shots I retrieved the bullet just under the skin on the far side. They both expanded pretty well and retained about 99% of their weight. I neck shot (pass...

    Smoothbore Barrel Length

Chuck Yep! I managed another chukar and a couple of misses last weekend. Thanks all for the replies. I agree that stock fit is probably more of a factor than barrel length. Thinking about it, I'd probably use it for birds almost exclusively, so a larger bore would probably be better too...

    Smoothbore Barrel Length

I've been having such a great time with my T/C New Englander the last two years that that I've begun thinking about taking the plunge with a flint fowler. I would mainly use it for upland birds, but would like the option of using round ball for deer or elk too. What barrel length would you...

    2 Barrel T/C New Englander?

Rebel I have nearly the same combo except I have the .54 barrel and a second full choke tube. I picked up the 12 ga (with 4 tubes) for $200 in excellent condition and found the new-in-the box .54 barrel from Numrich for $80 both within the last two years. With shipping costs, I have just over...
