    Natural Horns?

Thanks for the info everyone. Sad to hear that times do seem to be changing, and finding natural horns is getting much more difficult. :idunno:

    Natural Horns?

Hello the Camp! Every so often when the wind turns cool and the leaves begin to change, I begin pondering new projects. I often make knives, turn bowls and occasionally work on a horn or powder measure. Wanted to start a new horn project recently, but when I went online, all I could find were...

    Lyman Great Plains kit question

Just my two cents, I built a .50 several years back. Left metal in the white and aged it with bleach. It looks better the more I shoot it. I don't get the .54 preference. Honesty, unless you are hunting grizzly, I don't see the advantage. As for accuracy, I can't imagine anything more...

Next Cabelas Sale on 1858 Rem?

Does anyone have an idea when Cabelas might run another sale on the Pietta 1858 Remington?

    GPR off-hand range report!

******, My Lyman trigger may have been flawed. It would not always hold in the set position. The replacement from TOW is sound and crisp.... works everytime. And as a target trigger, the set trigger is great. If I hadn't had problems with my original, I wouldn't have changed it. It is...

    GPR off-hand range report!

Jethro, I've thought about the fixed sight as well. I might take you advice and make the move. The adjustable is really flimsy, not very authentic and doesn't hold very well. Thanks for the advice!

    .50 vs. .54

Just my two cents, My experience in shooting with any small framed shooter is that the caliber is less important then the fit of the gun. LOP is often way too long for smaller shooters. And an uncomfortable hold often translates into greater felt recoil and frustration over accuracy. Good luck!

    GPR off-hand range report!

I built my GPR .50 percussion from kit several years ago. I replaced the trigger with one from TOW. I use the adjustable rear sight that came with the kit. Recently I've been trying to improve my off-hand skills. I usually shoot standing, off-hand at 100 yards with NRA 100 yard military rifle...

    Kentucky Pistol Drawings?

Yes there are plenty of pictures, but I haven't been able to find drawings. I'd like to make some patterns and I am not so good at replicating them from pictures. Suggestions?

    Trying to get started

A suggestion about files, Good files are very expensive and if you have the cash no problem (a good cabinetmakers rasp could easily run you $50 more or less). When you add on an assortment of metal files, round files, etc, you could be well over $200. But.... if you have a tight budget, you...

    Kentucky Pistol Drawings?

Suggestions? :idunno: I have a nice tiger maple pistol blank that I'd like to use to make a Kentucky pistol. Does anyone know where I might find some pistol drawings online. I have some books with photos, but would like to see some line drawings to help with layout. Any Suggestions?

    Off-hand Shooting?

Dear Flashpandan, I hear you. For me, just shooting at the club range is a challenge (I am used to shooting alone at my brother's farm.) And since I'm usually the only blackpowder shooter there, everyone wants to watch. Last time out, the range officer pulled up a chair behind me and started...

Lyman 57GPR and Which 17EAU Front?

Are there two 17 EAU front globe sights? TOW shows the 17EAU as .464 high, while most other stores list the 17EAU as .494 high. Is there an advantage to one over the other when used with the Lyman 57GPR? :hmm:

    Off-hand Shooting?

Crocket, Yes, that's what I'll getting right now. Of course I'm taking my time, wiping the bore between shots, etc. I know the big competitors do much better, but I just like to challenge myself and see how well I can do. Happy Shooting!

    Off-hand Shooting?

Thanks BB, That's a great thread that clears things up a bit. Can't wait to get out there and practice some more. I think it would be great to shoot the "woods walk" described by one of the posters. Lots of Shootin' Fun!

    Lyman 57 GPR sights?

Sounds very promising... :hmm: As this is an off-hand range gun I don't have to worry about snow or crud! I'd love to see some pics. Thanks Guys!

    Off-hand Shooting?

How Good is Good? Recently I joined the local branch of Wildlife Action Inc. (a great conservation, education, outdoors, organization.) One of the benefits is the club range where I go to shoot whenever I get the chance. I shoot paper mostly and am really trying to work on my...

Where do i ship a muzzleloader?

I live in SC with pretty lenient gun regulations.... But even so, some folks behind the counter at USPS, UPS & Fed EX don't know the law, and don't know the difference between a ML and a modern rifle. My solution...... (we have 3 post offices within 30 miles of me), when shipping, I choose a...
