Hey, how do you dry your gourds? I had a vine come up from a dropped seed while I was cleaning one I bought out. Had 4 nice ones and I heard you leave them on the vine and they dry out naturally. Didn't work, they got mushy.

    Tulle trigger plate

Yep. Already got the flats filed in. Got a question if I don't stick my foot in my mouth again. In some pics of original guns I have looked at it shows the side tear drop carvings in the stock and it looks like there is some carving around the tang but can't find any views from above.

    Tulle trigger plate

Well, I was wrong. Simple pin was right. I don't know why I thought I saw that plate in the book. It's been a bad day from the get go for me. Thanks, I'll look into the plain plate.

    Tulle trigger plate

I was basing my info on Bouchard's book. I don't have it in front of me right now but I will check again when I get home. There's a still print of parts drawn up in it and I could have sworn the trigger plate is the same. I could have got my wires crossed, it's happened before.

    Tulle trigger plate

How'd you do on your stock? I waited 3 months on the plain maple and finally canceled it and got walnut.

    Tulle trigger plate

Anyone know of another place to get one of these trigger plates? It's been on back order from TOTW since 8/20. Got about everything done on my Tulle kit that I can without it. Looked at MLBS and PRS and didn't see this type which is the correct type and my stock is pre inletted for. [/img]

    Birchwood Casey

Does BWC stain raise grain? Seen it's water based but says to use denatured alc. to thin it.

    Redid hawk

This is the pipe hawk I posted a couple of weeks ago. I switched out the brass top cap with iron and threaded a cleanout plug I made.

    center seam sheaths

How are most c.s. sheaths attached to sashes or belts?

    Mahogany stain

Wow,that is reddish. I've used it on oak and it was darker than that. I figured the walnut would be darker.

    Mahogany stain

Has anyone used a mahogany stain over walnut to get a darker color to it?

    Need some solid advice

I used thin layers of Permalyn on my last two builds. My next I am going to try the BLO oil finish that TOTW sells. Are Permalyn and BLO compatible if you wanted to do a top coat of a half and half mix?

Thinking of building a flintlock kit

I would suggest reading; Recreating the American Longrifle. It's a pricey, old book but full of everything you need to know. I borrow my buddie's every time I do a build. The DVDs mentioned may be fine also, I've never viewed them. I guess watching something being done could be an advantage over...
