Bottom pour lead furnace. Lyman or RCBS?

I put a screw into the spout of my bottom pour lead pot. It leaked after a few years and half my time was trying to stop the leak.

    .54 Sharps

It depends on what method you use to load. A paper cartridge should have a christmas-tree bullet.

    Made a mistake (Graphic)

I keep all my black powder in a metal ammo can and pull it out only when loading my powder horns. Not because I feared this happening, but I guess that I can add this to my reasons. I am so sorry for your bad luck. But if you think about it, you have probably saved 10 other accidents like...

    Out of retirement help

If your load isn't accurate, it might be because those rifles weren't made to shoot plastic sabots. You might first find out if your barrel twist is for round balls or for sabots. A heavy charge with a plastic sabot might not give the pistol bullet a fast enough twist. I believe barrels for...

    Double gunning day....

Red coats could have used you way back then. Nice shooting. I believe that I would have no-shot loaded more than once.

What is the worst than can happen?

My cat dropped a bit of urine (yes, he didn't shake) and it ate the bluing and etched the barrel. Nice cat cept for that.

    Barrel Harmonics or Technique?

I have a tripod with a rifle mount on it. I hold my rifle as if I am shooting offhand and then have my wife scoot the stand under the rifle. Then I sight in off hand holding the rifle with both hands. Next, I kneel and shoot making sure that my ball strikes the same location.

    Bent/Sprung my barrel.

My wife has a shotgun with the same problem. Gave it to a gunsmith and when I got it back, it looked like an elephant stepped on it. Had no problems since then, but she does get some funny looks though when she goes huntin.

    Powder shortage effects

I usually shoot 3f in my 54 for targets. I only use 2f for hunting.

    deflected wound channel?

I would think that you had to hit something that would deflect a ball into a hard right/left turn. Or you had one heck of a spin on the ball.

    What would you have done?

Tell him to get his ass back to California where he belongs. Put up a fake mannequin dressed in orange with a fake rifle pointed at his stand. When you see a big buck walking on his land, set off a M-80 firecracker. Or you can just show him that some people are nice to their neighbors no...

    MAP for barrel cleaning

Well now, my lube is the absolute best. I use honey bee extract with fat taken from a bald eagle, and pressure cook the mixture three days. Just don't tell anyone.

    Deer Hide Bag

I like your bag and would try the same but can't seem to find the paint brushes made by El Cheapo.
