    I have the same pistol in brass with the 12" barrel and have been using 27 gr. of pyrodex load with a wonderwad and 454 ball. After about 200 rounds there is no apparent wear or "stretch" to the frame. Stew

    They generally left one empty chamber to leave the hammer on. Wonder wads would proabably be better than grease and consider using 777 or anouther of the less corrosive powder substitutes. Stew

    Nipple Wrench for 1858 Remy

    The one I use on my Remmy is just like the one the Possibilities Shop sells as stock # 53-1260. It has a Necked down area to get into the nipple pocket and works well for me. Stew

    I use 27 gr. of Pyrodex 3f with a wonder wad and a .451 ball For cleaning I remove the cylinder and nipples. Stew

    Just thought of anouther option. A quick wrap of teflon plumbing tape should do the same as thread locker. Stew

    I also remove it when cleaning and use a pipe cleaner to clean the port after running water thru it. I also tighten it against the nipple(lightly). Stew

    Got one this spring. After working on the trigger(stoning engagement surfaces and decreasing the spring)it is a great shooter. I have been using 27 gr. of Pyrodex, .490 ball and .015 lubed patch. Stew

    Taller sights

    Before you buy a replacement front sight, find out how much higher it must be by putting some shrink tubing over the front sight and shrink it down then cut it off a 1/16 th or 1/8th above the stock sight. Try at the range and trim until it works, then order the height you need. Stew

    Lyman Plains pistol

    Polishing sear and trigger carefully helps.I used a file on the sear and laid the trigger flat on a surface and rubbed it on the side of a stone. The spring was replaced with one from Grainger(1ncd5) along with a spacer aprox. 3/8" and a washer.This resulted in a pull just less than 2# and...
