    Huntin' in the rain

Well, hunt's over. No kill, but I kept my powder dry! Covered the muzzle and made a cow's knee out of well oiled leather. Worked great! HEAVY rain too. Thanks for the tips.

    Huntin' in the rain

Headin' out on an elk hunt this week in Wetstern Warshington. I figure something over the muzzle, anything I can do to make the cap more weatherproof? Thanks.

    Another TC Hawken

Yeah, a good penetrating oil, a LITTLE heat (hair dryer, not a torch), and rap the surrounding area with a chunk of wood. Repeat till done. Good luck. I just remembered that it is loaded! I would hold off on everything but the oil 'til you get that charge out.

    Semi Custom GPR

Well, not quite a matched pair, more like mirror images (my son is a southpaw). Maybe a trade rifle for the lady. Anyway, your workmanship is an inspiration. We'll see how it goes. Bob

Thanks Scott. It is a beauty. I'm considering attempting something similar as wedding gifts for my son and his bride. I see we share a profession, I'm a Land Surveyor too. Regards, Bob

    Semi Custom GPR

I've done a search for this with no luck. Some time back a forum member posted a beatiful GPR he had built. I don't remember a lot about it other than the workmanship was outstanding and he had inlet something ( a star I think) into the buttstock. Any ideas? Thanks

    Removing stain on rifle

Some good ideas already. You might also try some of the military rifle forums, Jouster, ODCMP.org, etc. Those guys know a lot of tricks for removing years of mud, blood, etc from stocks.

hangfire from load kept in gun for 2 days

Congratulations on your kill. Way to "hang in there". I hunt on the wet side of Warshington, and the only misfires or hangfires I have experienced have been with BP substitutes. I've had real good luck with the real stuff.

Tyson, lots of very good advice here. I agree with Runner, try real BP. Good luck, and congrats on your son's early successes. Bob

    Salvaged Stock Blanks

I agree with Static: Whiting, or Kitty Litter. Put in black plastic bag and leave in sun for a while. (Don't use scented kitty litter). Good luck.

Does anybody make a left hand Kentucky Rifle?

I think you'll enjoy this, a few years ago a friend of mine asked me to come over and shoot a deer in his orchard. We live in a firearm resticted area with choices between revolvers, shotguns, and muzzleloaders. I grabbed my .44 revolver and headed out. When I got there the range felt a little...
