    Shooting issue

Why would you have to harden the hammer?

    Lyman GPR AGAIN

I'm sorry to disagree with old ford BUT valve grinding compound is diamond dust in a binding agent and will stay in the pores of the barrel no matter how much you clean it. I have seen a teaspoon of it DESTROY a car engine in less than a half hour!!!! I saw another engine that was sabotaged with...

    Deer load

that load would probably go end to end not just sideways!!!!!

    My Hawken made some smoke

Not to be argumentative but twenty cents a ball is the exact reason to cast!!!!! That's just nuts but then track isn't cheap on anything.

NEXT: What are the "Reasons" some leave Muzzleloaders loaded?

Also I want to point out that I also keep my centerfire AND rimfires loaded. If the man is fool enough to come thru my door or window without a warrent I want to greet him with a hail of lead.

NEXT: What are the "Reasons" some leave Muzzleloaders loaded?

first you ask for reasons then you want to argue with the poster or pupu his reason. Old saying be careful what you ask for you may get it!!!!!! Second: In Washington and Oregon a muzzleloader is consider unloaded if it doesn't have a cap on a percussion or a priming charge with the frizen open.

    Barrel quality

So what that you didn't build your new rifle yourself? Do you think all those riflemen that shot poor boys originally built their own? I'm happy for you that you are getting a fine rifle and will have years of shooting pleasure from it!!!!!!! Cant wait for your report on it when you get it...

Removing flesh/meat from a deer skull.

Here's the easiest way I know of no work at all!!!! Put the skull up on a roof or someother place where dogs and cats cant get at it in the spring or summer.Just let it sit the flys will lay eggs on it and the maggots will clean it like a whistle.

    Hawkin rifles

An "original" Hawken would be spelled with an e just as I hsve spelled it. Many if not all that use the name spell it with an I as in Hawkin. Ive been told this is to avoid any fraud claims by purchasers.

    help with patches

Well now I guess I've learned something since I never knew that the ticking was supposed to be washed I've been shooting more than 30 years without doing it and getting great accuracy to boot.

I second that no way will I ever use an antigun company.

    GPR blowing patches

Im sorry but I didn't see the pyrodex part. If that barrel has been shot with pyro it may be pitted from the corrosive action of the pyro. I replaced my original barrel about a year ago due to using pyrodex!!!!!! That stuff is bad bad bad!!!! You need to get a bore light and see if you still...

    GPR blowing patches

Been there done that. Try using 2F I think the 3f is probably too hot and burning the patches. Also with that patch a .530 ball shouldn't be close to tight. I use a .535 and its still not too tight. With loads up to 90gr 2F I don't use an overpowder wad but my hunting load is 120gr 2F and I use...

    Pan priming - how much?

Hi Baxter, I use a primer from "Cash" that leaves 2 grains of 4f in the pan. Remember that overfilling the pan will slow ignition.FRJ

    .32 round ball for deer

I don't think Glass killed a griz with a bowie knife. I think the griz almost killed him and that he crawled several hundred miles while recovering from the mauling. Also I believe the "bowie" knife came along after Glass died in an indian attack. FRJ

    Mink Oil for Shoes?

I asked this question several years ago and thought I was going to get lynched just for asking the question!! LOL! Apparently the fear is that the petro based lubes will leave a fouling in the barrel that's hard to remove. I only use mink oil in my hunting loads so that no fluid will leach into...

    Rice Barrel back log.

I just waited over 5 years for a Randall knife!!!! I'm sorry but I have a hard time having any sympathy for a few month wait. Enjoy the anticipation and dream about how much fun it will be when you do get it. FRJ

    Front Sight Adjustment

Seems like a lot of talk about a simple subject. I seriously doubt that your front sight is in a tapered dovetail. The simple question is why? Next put the barrel in a padded vice and with a brass drift move it in either direction. If it moves your good to go and just push it in the direction...

    pan powder amounts

One thing at a time, I use 2gr 4f for priming the reason I know that is the tool I use to do it with drops the same amount every time and I've weighed the charges. Since its the heat of the prime igniting and not the flame over priming can lead to slower ignition times. I hunt with my flint and...

    Left Flint Right?

I used to shoot a rt handed flint left handed. It was no big deal. AND back then being young and dumb I did it without eye protection!!! Thank You God for watching over this fool!!!! FRJ
