I have two of them, one for each of my boy's. The only "upgrade" I did was put Lyman peep sights on them. HA

    100 yd Shooting

Thank you for that link fools sulphur. Wouldn't happen to have one for the pistol would you? I've always considered myself a pretty decent shot but there tips here that come from the wisdom of others. There is always room for improvement. I'll never be a Bisley champion but lessons garnered...

    100 yd Shooting

No buddies around that shoot flintlocks unfortunately. I'm a bit of an oddity here Don Steele. After seeing how some of these guy's shoot with modern firearms I wouldn't hold to much of them even being on paper with a flinter. lol The one kind of target I haven't tried is an inverted triangle...

    100 yd Shooting

Hello All, I have really decent groups with my .54 GPR flintlock at 50 yds but when I move out to a 100 they open up quite a bit. I can 2" @ 50 yds off the bench but at a 100 I'm looking at 6-8" pie plate groups. I'm thinking it is mostly me that's the issue. Old eye's and inconsistent POA...

    One shooter so many problems!

Get into a pre/post/load routine. Mine is. Damp patch, wipe frizzen, wipe flint, wipe pan. Same patch down the barrel, flip and down again. Dry patch down the barrel. Save the dry one to start routine after the shot. Pick in the vent, load powder/prb. Pull pick, prime, shoot. Repeat. It works...

    Lyman GPR sight picture

You can use the full buckhorn sight as a ranging sight. The sight picture shown above could be your close range sight picture. Your second Mid Range with the the top of the front sight centered in the "horns". Your long range sight picture with the top of the front sight between the tips of the...

    Rite of Passage...First Dry Ball!

Dry balling is why I take two rifles to the range. That way should the unmentionable happen at least you can keep on shooting. :headslap: HA

How do I take the barrel out of the stock?

I'm glad I read this thread prior to my upcoming TVM purchase. A lot of questions just got answered. Thanks, HA

    Lyman GPR

I too have LH GPR's flintlocks. .50 and .54 I use Black English Flints and I changed out the vent liners for RMC's vent liners. I can get pie plate accuracy off the bench at 100yd with the .50. I looked for my target data for that shoot but can't find it. So it didn't happen. :surrender: Here...

What does "Tuning" a flintlock entail?

Bout the only thing I've done to my locks were to polish the pan and I have filed the pan / frizzen a bit so they mated flush. Other than that, I replaced the vent liner with a RMC liner. Must have got a couple of good one's cause that is all I've done and they shoot fine. HA

    Bear Grease Shoot

I shot those patches just because I wanted to try something different. I have some .018 blue stripe pillow tick to use as well. I agree about the group size as I would like it tighter than that as well. I need to get some .530 ball as well. I'm a work in progress. HA

    Bear Grease Shoot

After the lackluster results yesterday with the 50's I took the .54 out for a shoot. I had an old shirt hanging in the closet and thought to myself. Hmmmm patches..... So I cut a couple strips off it and got the bear grease out of the freezer. I lubed up the material and headed for the pit...

    Bear Grease for Bullet Lube

I think they call the fat on the inside by the kidneys and loin, Suet. Well, I stopped at the health food store on my way home from work this evening. They were the only one around who had any beeswax. (got to do some internet shopping for some cheaper wax) . So I picked up a 1/3 pound block...

    Bear Grease for Bullet Lube

Bee's wax it is!!! Thanks all. Swampy the deer fat will have to wait till next fall. We're all done hunting here and the deer I got this year got cleaned up pretty well. Do you render it down before using it? HA

    Bear Grease for Bullet Lube

I was planning on using bear grease for a bullet lube. The only problem was that it goes to a liquid as soon as I touch it. Kind of hard to get any on the bullet. So I stuck it in the freezer for a bit but that didn't work too well either. I managed to lube some up with some Wonder Lube that...
