Hi all - does anyone know what size buck to use for a 24 gauge buck & ball load? Or how to work it out? I'm after whatever size does the 'three lying flat' thing in the bore...

Thanks, Steve

Yep -- Squire John shared this with us:

Take bore diameter and multiply by .450; that should give the diameter of 3 balls that would "lie flat".

So, for a 24 gauge ----> 0.579" * 0.45 = 0.26055"

...as Russian Blood says, the closest you can get using commercial buckshot is #3 at 0.25" Besides, you don't want too tight of a fit.
