Well, I've had the hots for a traditional long rifle for a while now. After having so much fun with my GPR I've REALLY been hankering for a blackpowder squirrel rifle. I'd had all I could take. I took the 125mile ride to DGW Tuesday and looked at all they had. I really liked the Cabela's Blue Ridge from their catalog (pictures can be deceiving) but I've had a lot of trouble finding a longrifle that fit me well. Even though it's the design that appeals to me most. So I really didn't want to order one from a catalog that I had not already handled. Anyway, they had all but one on the floor. None of those really called to me. It appears as though the Pedersoli Frontier rifle and the Cabela's Blue Ridge are one and the same. Don't like the lack of metalwork, seemed rather plain for its pricetag. The Dixie Cub and Scout are nice guns but I didn't want a carbine. Talking to the lady at the counter we realized there was one that was not on the floor, the Pedersoli Kentucky rifle. So she brought one out and I instantly knew it was the one! Beautiful little rifle at a similar price but with the added bonus of a patchbox and more brass trim. I brought it home and couldn't be happier. Gonna try to shoot it tomorrow and post pictures if anybody is game.
