My CVA percussion .54 has a plastic camo stock from the factory. I'd prefer wood, but don't mind the camo part. The flimsy feeling plastic though....

Took my first bird last year with a modern, decent but not shiny wood and parkerized metal. He never noticed me or the gun.
Also have a few coated or otherwise wrapped/painted modern things, including some custom flame artwork on a target build.
But I think anything but rust blue/brown and wood will get the nickers of all the purists wadded up.
Personally I bet if camo wrap tape, etc. had been available in the 1700s/1800s we'd see plenty of evidence of its use - maybe not on formal military issue stuff, but certainly hunters, trappers, mountain men, etc.

I am all for it.
Several years ago I was at a sportsman/coon hunters outdoor swap. On this guys table laid a camo muzzle loading double barrel he had doctored up for turkey hunting.

After I got her home and started peeling camo tape and applying oil and 0000 steel wool to some light surface rust, and a amazingly clean Navy Arms chrome lined, cyl bored, Pedersoli 12 ga. emerged. Therefor I am in favor of, and keeping a eye peeled for another one.

Makes me want to do something crazy with a douglas barrel blank I've had sitting around for 20 years 😂

Why? Just why.....
I'm going to try to be positive, but it's not easy. The only positive thing I can think of is that it's getting a new shooter involved in "traditional" muzzleloading. Most shooters of the camo mindset don't realize that turkeys were nearly extinct from being shot by guys NOT in camo. Hopefully we gain a new muzzleloader. That's the best I can do.
