My CVA percussion .54 has a plastic camo stock from the factory. I'd prefer wood, but don't mind the camo part. The flimsy feeling plastic though....
Took my first bird last year with a modern, decent but not shiny wood and parkerized metal. He never noticed me or the gun.
Also have a few coated or otherwise wrapped/painted modern things, including some custom flame artwork on a target build.
But I think anything but rust blue/brown and wood will get the nickers of all the purists wadded up.
Personally I bet if camo wrap tape, etc. had been available in the 1700s/1800s we'd see plenty of evidence of its use - maybe not on formal military issue stuff, but certainly hunters, trappers, mountain men, etc.
