Any chance we'll see powder from Goex in 2023 ?

To continue to use real black powder, you have to deal with shipping OR, go to a source. There are a number of options to getting it shipped, join a NMLRA Charter Club, be friends with a reenactor group, or organize a group buy with like minded friends. Past that, if your travels take you near a location that is known to stock it, then by all means, make that stop, but quit whining about it NOT being on your LGS shelves cuz unless there's a sea change in regulations, it's not going to happen.
I agree totally with this post. If you live near a source, feel blessed. If you need powder, there are multiple sources to find it and with a signature needed upon delivery, your shipment comes right to you. Just make that call to one to any of the multiple businesses that carries powder and order what you want. No gasoline costs, no wear or tear on your car, Fed X takes care of all of that for you.

This also depends on how much you enjoy your shooting hobby. The "buy once-cry once" mentality can apply here. If you don't shoot often, buy that 10 pound case & be set for years. I have friends that doesn't think twice about spending $50.00+ for 18 holes of golf & buy a dozen new golf balls for $25.00 only to lose them in the woods or lakes. They keep playing their golf game week after week......and buying those golf balls & paying expensive green fees.

Swiss/Schuetzen is available right now. Who knows when Goex will get started again. Goex will need to test the product, be sure it actually works ( like before ) and get their massive shipping network going again and actually make the product available.

@dave951 is 100% right. Unless there is a change in gov't policies ( probably won't happen living in the anti-gun climate we do these days ) finding real black powder on store shelves in the near future is NOT going to happen.

Once a year, and only once a year, my oldest Son and I make a day long drive to buy BP. We've been doing this for 7 years now. We used to drive all the way to Dixie Gun Works and hand select revolvers or rifles we wanted. 3 years ago we found a source about 3 hours closure that takes us through the the little town I was born and raised in. They're both long drives, but I look forward to having one on one time with my Son without distractions. Point is, if you really want BP, get it. It's out there. You'll either pay extra for gas or hazmat. Also on our driving trips I always make a bunch of good sandwiches to bring along. Not spending money on crappy fast food saves enough money to buy an extra pound or 2 of powder. And when we go we buy enough to stay stocked a couple years ahead of what we already have. Just do whatever you have to do and get some.

I'm not saying this as an attack or even a doubt on anything you've said, but I can hardly believe Iowa wouldn't have shops that cater to our style of hunting. I suppose the shops there might service modern weapons. Sorry you don't have a local shop to deal with.
Muzzleloading is absolutely dead in Iowa. Has been for more than 20 years. There is a club that is about 20 miles from me that has a once a month shoot. They usually get 3 people or so.
Now, it use to be a hot spot when I got started back in '80. One club would have 30-40 shooters every month. Those days are long gone. The participants are all dead or well on their way to it.
I hear CAS is all but dead too, some shooters, but nothing like 10-15 years ago. I still shoot, but I have my own range behind my shop.

We're actually lucky there's more than one company that makes the stuff. If it wasn't for the Fireworks industry, and it's popularity, the product could have gone the way of the Dodo bird. I've been meaning to visit the nearby original DuPont factory; I don't know if they still have it open but it's the 1803 plant near Wilmington, DE. The old original water-powered site that Pierre DuPont made his fortune on.

I like your attitude! I've always wanted to drive thru the beautiful part of the US from PA to TN, and visit Dixie in person, just like some religions have to make a pilgrimage to some holy site or city! Also an excuse to visit any Civil War sites along the way!:)

That's exactly how we view it. It's been awhile, but we used to make the run to DGW a two day trip so we could visit Shilo. We've been there 4 times and concentrate on different sections each time. You can still stand on the north-south-east-west railroad crossing in Corinth, MS that made that town so strategically important. Lots of history all around there.

The owner of Back Creek Gun Shop has told me he is probably #4 on the list of the top 10 distributors in the country. Not only does he sell to the N-SSA he also supplies the powder to many of the large dealers all of you buy from. He also sell a lot of blasting powder to some of the quarries around here. They prefer it to dynamite because of the way it fractures the rock. I'll be having lunch with a group of skirmishers in a little over an hour and he'll be among them. If I remember (getting harder all the time) I'll try to get an update from him.

Well I talked with Jackie from Back Creek Gun Shop a little over an hour ago and here is what he told me. GOEX will be available by March of this year at the earliest and May at the latest. Swiss went up in price and his shipping has skyrocketed, about tripled, resulting in a price increase of around $4/lb. so it will be about $34/lb. now. Schuetzen is up about $2/lb. There will be no RWS (German) caps this year at all. He is having difficulties getting any brand caps.

As if we are the largest consumers. You completely leave out gov/military contracts and NO, the military doesn't use black powder as a propellant. It IS used extensively in munitions. With that in mind, the gov will make darn sure that part of the military supply chain is domestic.

That seems to be the universal problem now. My oldest Son is an architect with his own firm. He's trying to hire 2 new staff architects, he told me he's interviewed 3 and they all asked if they could work from home. He sent all out the door.

So, who has actually spoken to a person in Minden who can say when powder is coming?

Bother-in-law information does not count.

All else speculation does not count.

I only live about an hour from Dixie and have never been there.

The door going to the car museum posts a fee to enter. They no longer charge. The problem is, they no longer regulate the temp. It will be cold in the winter, and hot in summer! Still worth it.
