Any chance we'll see powder from Goex in 2023 ?

I remember everyone crying that someone needed to buy goex and someone did. Hopefully those people will buy their product when it's available, whenever that happens.
I have goex on hand and also the imports, like all of it. I sure do miss driving in to the local shop to buy American made powder.

I was on Powder Inc’s website. I clicked on Goex 3f. It said available end of June. Clicked on Goex 2f & 4f, it said unavailable. So maybe their first run is going to be just 3f?🤷‍♂️
Powder Inc isn't the best with updating their info , they probably just give it a best guess

My local shop sells powder but they pass the Hazmat on to you anyway, so they're essentially just ordering from Powder Inc in bulk with the FFL wholesale price and slapping a $10 profit onto each can

I love supporting my local shops but for $550 I can order 25lbs of Goex to my door (when it was available)

Even the owner is like, he sells BP as a courtesy to customers and being a big CAS guy, he has a customer base that uses it to load .45 LC and shotgun shells. But he doesn't make much profit off BP, more so that his customer base also buys lots of guns there too

That's the way it works down here in West Oz. We take whatever we can get. The most common is WANO
I bought a 25lb case of Goex 1F right before the "panic" after they announced they were ceasing Blackpowder production. I just happened to feel like stocking up , and I shoot .69 muskets. Then it was like , boom , everyone went to every source and cleaned them out of Goex

I'm hoping to get out and shoot some Old Eynsford today 😀

I have a partial can of 2f from making .58 cartridges , a half can of 3f from shooting revolvers and most of a can of 1.5f so I'm about to mix it all into I guess 2.5F and go blow it through a couple revolvers

I don't feel like digging into my "stash " and cracking a new can

I'm an enthusiastic supporter of Goex and I've burned a lot of it in the past. Also burned some Graf, elephant, Swiss and in a pinch Pyrodex. I am sure Estes will be successful in Louisiana.

However, over ten years ago I acquired some Scheutzen purely as a result of their support for local shoots. It’s good powder so I'll continue to use it.

I wonder if that's new or old info? Last June or June '23?

In that case you are probably holding some of the worst powder Goex ever made!!
Seems to work fine. Jealous perhaps? Most all of my BP goes into cartridges these days. Only Swiss and old Ironfarts goes into what little muzzleloading I do.

I am excited to get some more olde eynsford.

I also hope that this owner works to make regular Goex more consistently high quality than it sounds like goex has been through the years.

I have never had any quality issues with Goex no matter what the era. Dupont either for that matter.

It’s curious how quickly some are to dismiss the benefits of a domestic manufacturer of black powder...
I'm not and I don't think anyone else is dismissing the benefits. I wish Estes all the best. I really do. But the realities are that black powder production today coupled with the Fed regulators are not necessarily a match made in heaven. Estes has quite the row to hoe to make this happen, at least for consumers. The DOD and production for Estes rockets will come first anyways.

I was gifted quite an assortment of powder several years ago. Old Dupont of various years and Goex of various years, and some Curtis and Harvey powder. It all shoots just like the new Shuetzen powder I bought over the summer. Moral of the story is-

it all works just fine and dandy

Now Goex OE and Swiss is another animal all together. But I'm happy shooting the 'lower' grades myself.

The following is taken from the link QuinnTheEskimo posted in #40. The news release was dated Aug. 10, 2022 which means we might not see powder before August of 2024 but I certainly hope it's much sooner.

"The total cost of the project is $5.3 million over two years, and it will allow production to resume at the Minden, Louisiana facility in two years or less (my emphasis)."

Since I don't shoot competitively or do any hunting I'll be looking for the best price when buying black powder. I do like that Goex is a US company but price is the decided factor. As far as one being dirtier than the other makes no difference to me.

Easily jealous of your 100# stash but not particularly over the Goex. 😆

They had a lot of quality problems at the Moosic plant. I got a great deal on goex from a local guy who was a BPCR shooter and had bought 25# back in that '70's period. He was not happy with it.

I shot it without issues but then again I've been ok with any powder I tried except some elephant.

I own several pounds still of Moosic plant produced Goex. Had at one time over 30# of it. What is wrong with it???

Watch Estes/Goex get up and running and a Louisiana Typhoon /Flood / Hurricane put it to them ,because I don’t think this was the best state to put a high explosive plant. What say ye…

The issues were related to water purity and quality. The Mad Monk wrote on the topic. It wasn't "bad" powder but the QC was variable. Lot to lot couldn't be relied upon. So variations might be noticeable.

Does me fine on woodswalks and kills me multiple deer/duck/goose/turkey/squirrel/rabbit/etc/etc every year so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to complain about??
