• Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.

We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.

Any reason not to fire this?

You can pat yourself on the back for making the right choice  . The double ball load may not have been dangerous, but I'll bet you were surprized to find it there, not what you were expecting. With that in mind, there could have been ANYTHING down that bore, from a dryball load, to a smokeless load under a bunch of nut and bolts (brrrrr, makes me shudder).

Also, I think we all got caught up in the issue at hand and forgot to offer our condolences at the loss of your friend. Anytime we lose a fellow muzzleloader, we all feel it a little. Sorry for your loss. Bill

Good going on getting the possible problem rectafied. Prayers and condolances to your friend and his family. His spirit will live on as you use his rifle so enjoy the fond memories.
