We had a strangely dry winter, more cold than snow. Been catching up on finishing a trade gun that I have been shooting for years in a rough blocky sort of state. but looking forward to a change. As dry as it has been, kinda nervous about lightning later this year.

Funny, I'm further south than you, but still in New England, haven't seen a robin yet, but our skunks are out and about throughout all winter, but for the record cold spell.
I don't discount snow and cold until late April. Been out in the snow on opening day of trout season too many times.

Very familiar with your weather. I moved out of CT after 50 years.

I won't be bored with winter until I finish this next bag I'm making!! Then I'll be ready to pull our RV out of winter storage and get back into that form of recreation. I don't do much shooting or crafting in the summer months.

SB: We run primitive biathlons and have geezer shoots all winter, no time for getting bored!

Must be nice. It’s hard to find anyone around here that wants to go out and play.

But I don’t mind shooting by myself if that’s what it takes.

Robins just made it back.

Here in Western PA we have robins year round. Ours fly South for the Winter...yours do, too. I have a holly tree that gets laden with berries, and one day, either in January or February, the robins will pick it clean in less than an hour. Fun to watch, but my truck gets covered with purple poop. :haha:

NOT bored with Winter. I like it better than Summer. Just frustrated trying to make time to go shooting.

Went to a gathering of friends (some Old, some New) Saturday night, for a discussion on George Washington. 14 folks, many didn't know each other.
The host had a bottle of GW's Mt. Vernon whiskey to sample, and a travelling whiskey chest with crystal glassware and 18 (empty) quart bottles that was made for Washington by friends, but he died before it could be given to him. Been in the host's family ever since. Talk about a thrill drinking from those glasses!

I donated a bottle of Old Potrero 18th Century style Rye Whiskey, some others brought different Ryes, and there was a Martha Washington's Great Cake that the wife of a friend spent days making - It was delicious!!

I also gave a talk on the Whiskey Rebellion that was well received, and a great time was had by all.

This winter yep! Had rotator cuff surgery 11/7. Dr. says no falling down, no nothing till after rehab torture. Started therapy going good but next appointment DR. insisted no snow shoeing, no walking on ice [by fishing] no sledding [sno-machine] but I could drive again.

Next week I go back to him again. Bored? You betcha!

I'm about as far east as one can go on this continent(technically on an island east of the continent). we have had one of the most interesting winters here. on the avalon peninsula where i live, i have used the snowblower 3 times this winter. i used it about 3 times a week last winter. lots of rain, temp around 0'C. wet and windy, too miserable to do much outside. there is dirty snow out there, but we've just had a week or two with no snow on the ground. the rest of the island has had a much more traditionally snowy winter, but with the warm weather across the island, the snow there has been thin and patchy as well. got one muzzleloaded shot fired around Xmas.
we are missing the storm many of you are getting on the east coast in the last day or so.
oh sorry, i forgot. yes bored with winter

winter has been known to last till july here. 2015 was one particularly nasty year

Not so boring yesterday. A nor'easter dropped 14" of wet, driven snow, which took out power, phone and cable for many. That all gets relegated to memory but the damage to all manner of trees and evergreen shrubbery is, more or less, permanent change. I've got a long lane through a wooded hillside which becomes a white-knuckle experience when plowing anything greater than 6 to 8" of snow. My little tractor, Killer B, was about at it's limit...but soldiered on till we were out, just at nightfall.

I must be bored. I have bought 3 new (old) rifles. Winchester 1892 38-40, Marlin 39 (oct. barrel) and a 12 bore percussion half stock rifle, unsigned.

I have to send off today a ML shotgun and some cash for the rifle.

Once I get it I will post some pictures.
