I always pull the ram out of any new cap gun and put a 3/8s for .36 and half inch for .44, ball mill to the end in my lathe and cut a hemisphere. This will stop them from pressing into the lead, biting on and pulling them back out. It will also help hold center the ball when pressed into the chamber mouth.Just to clarify, the ball is stuck to the ram, and has to be knocked loss. I am getting a ring of lead at loading.
Your ball is to small too as others have already advised.
