I did not say I would not, I said it was wrong! Sometimes one has to wrong things. Not something that I would be proud of, just something that has to be done. Could you be proud of KILLING another HUMAN BEING ?

Whats so wrong about killing a rapist, murderer, thief?
Even God say's its okay to kill these vermin.
Anybody touch my wife or son i'd be more than happy to plant'em in the ground and piss on there grave.

I may trust my life to a blackpowder firearm, but I'd never trust my wife or son's life to it.

S&W takes care of that chore.

Anybody use there muzzleloaders for home defence?
I use a 1858 remington army and a .54 hawkins for
my protection.

burdy

Nope, Mossberg 590 with bird shot and a Colt 45 ACP :)

This is aimed at everyone:

HEY: THE ANSWERS HERE ARE "YES, i USE MY BLACKPOWDER GUN FOR HOME DEFENSE" OR "NO, I USE MY GLACENSPYDER" (OR WHATEVER).
AS CLAUDE HAS SAID TWICE NOW, DO NOT DISCUSS THE RIGHT OR WRONG OF SHOOTING PEOPLE IN YOUR HOME.

If you want to elaborate a bit on why you do as you do, feel free to do so, but please DON'T keep dwelling on the right or wrong.
Thanks
zonie :)

I must confess that I also got sidetracked in this post as well but, when the chief poobaugh says enough, then the word is "enough".

Between my wife's 870 Rem and my Mossy 500 we can sufficiently fill the house with 7 1/2 shot so there's no need to use a muzzy of any kind.
How's that Zonie? :blah:

I have a S/W 586 with 6 friends and a couple of speed loaders handy..but I maybe I should get the 1861 springfield and put that 2ft bayonet on it.
Scare the heck of any sane person. :surrender:
NH doesn't have the castle doctrine yet and you need to be carefull about shooting..
Call the police first and call a lawyer second

I personally do not use Black Powder firearms for Self Defense. I would ,however, use them if it was my only means to defend myself, family or home.

Firearms have "Progressed" in their Range, firepower, lethality, and dependability (Questionable with some) over the last couple hundred years or more. I would say it to be wise for someone to own a modern firearm for defensive purposes and pray they won't have to use it.

I hear that in some counties, Black powder firearms is all they can use for self defense or defense of the home. Can't remember where it was though.

Maybe someone out there knows.

My MLs are for building, reenacting, competition and hunting because I love the look, tradition and challenge that they offer. They are my hobby, but I know where to draw the line between sentiment and combat effective.

When it comes to defending self, family and others under my care, I want the absolute best in equipment and tactics. As Paul suggested earlier, a legal but short barreled shotgun at a specific choke/challenge point is the first choice. It should be loaded with a shell that will not over-penetrate and endanger others. I disagree only with his mention of the double and opt for a pump for a variety of tactical and personal reasons.

A high capacity auto (with a caliber beginning with .4something or other) is next. Mine are mostly combat Tupperware in a variety of calibers.

Cover, lights, medical, communications and requests for assistance are also major factors involved in the survival plan.

MLs are not even on the list as their day is done in matters of mortal combat in my opinion.

Yes I would be comfortable using any one of my ML's rifles or pistols for defense, for if I can reach it I will use it. Besides when out on the range or looking at your fresh kill do you not see how effective the weapon you have built or regularly shoot performs. I do and I would not hesitate to use any of them if or when the time warrants it. For sheer brutality nothing out performs a ML to understand this just look at the civil war hospital pictures. :hatsoff:
