What is your definition of "buckshot?"
Most states, and I would say all states have a shot size limit for hunting geese and other game birds. I do not believe that "buckshot" is legal for geese anywhere. But I may be wrong, so check your game regulations.
Buckshot sizes range from the small #4 buckshot that is .24", up to the largest buckshot that is 000 which measures at .36"
Normal goose shot sizes range from no. 2 which is .15" up to T shot which is .20". There is also an F shot, although I have never seen it. F measures .22"

However, will buckshot work in a percussion or flintlock smoothbore? Of course. Buckshot is designed for use in shotguns and smoothbores are basically shotguns regardless of whether they are a muzzleloader or a breechloader.
But then another question comes up. Will a particular smoothbore shoot buckshot with any modicum of accuracy? Only a lot of testing will tell.
I use a duplex load of F shot and #7.5 for pest control. Coyote, skunk, racoons. Very brutal load.

Are turkeys considered waterfowl?
I never considered that 000 shot was not legal for game animals. Was planning to use it on turkeys!
I have about 50 lbs of 000 lead buck shot. Have to Check regulations now back in Oregon.

Maybe I need to build a .36 rifle...
Can always be for home defense!

For a body shot?

Depends where you are?

#2 goose shot 20_30 yards.. I think would work. it's the same as shooting a goose. I never tried it. it's just what I heard.

I wonder. if the turkey head hunt is just too sell special turkey guns and ammunition.

Tss.. we have to Make .410 turkey guns. Had to read a year of hunt that Tom with a .410 only $40 a bullet.

Tss.. now they talk use grandpa's gun with no choke..

Tss.. long range.. we gotta shoot them in the head at 80 yards now to..

What's next. Buy a smoothbore muzzloader.. smoke that Tom turkey in the head with tss...

This tss just made everything a turkey gun.. just $90 a box and you to can shoot a turkey in the head with everything gauge choke guns.

We need all this bull I think to hunt turkey in the head and I do think it's just a goose, Just Standing there.

I don't see them saying use number 4 tss.

#4 shot size here is the largest shot size you can use. Same in most states.

Just wondering. can you use #4 tss. shoot that thing like a goose.

The simple answer is yes. I have shot buckshot in my smoothbores, but There's no real purpose to doing so other than as a test. In the state I live in it's not legal for deer or turkey.

The only problem is at 20 yards I’ve seen the entire load make one hole..😳

This was from my 16 gauge smoothbore..

No it didn’t damage the barrel, this was being tested for Turkey hunting.
Once I found out it was illegal too use shot larger than #4 I discontinued my testing.

However I think it would work fine on most farm pest….😎

I made these shotcups with glue. Not hard to do, but I figure it's not going to do anything.

I havn't tried them yet. I think they look cool.
