I'm gonna knock the comb down just a titch . I have three different pattern for Fusil de chasse and this is the lowest comb pattern . I hear folks complain about the Fusils popping them in the face so I'll take it down a bit to try and reduce that effect . Probably same folks that shoot 90 gr. , LOL ... and say " Man ! This here gun kicks ! " ....LOL ...oh well . Ive never noticed them popping me in the face but ...I'm been married before so I can't feel pain anymore. :)

Hey Rob when you got a minute show us what you got in that hunting bag iffen you don’t mind.thanks
... I got a little bit of hornets nest in the front pocket for wadding , need to put more in there ... My touch hole pic is missing I just found out ... bit more round ball in there than I pulled out ... I just took my shot pouch out last week . the finish nail is to tighten the top jaw screw, works wonders better that the flint knapper/ screw driver combo. One reason why I just love the RE David lock ... the top jaw screw hole is higher than thatdarn comb thing they put on top of the **** ...ya just put it in there and give it a good twist ...that flint ain't ever moving till ya want it to. THE L&R , N.S. west, Caywood , etc. others you have to tighten , take out , re insert tighten. Take out , reinsert tighten ....pain in the tuckas

And sand and file and sand and file and sand ....these French stocks are very particular . The size and all is fine but ...its just not right yet , it has to flow , it can't be thick tlooking even though the combs are . The have this sweep and grace in its lines . I see a bulging spot or high spot gotta get it outta there . It can be monotonous so in bit I'll work on the entry pipe then back to buttstock , then forearm , then back to buttstock , etc.etc. sanding on the buttstock all day for three days and I'd be in the funny farm ...

Difficult , gotta take the wood down to level with the metal . Funny , I'd never heard of sacrifice files but I designate many of my tools as sacrifice ...as they are supposed to be wood or metal , not both ....but my sacrifice tools I use for both metals at once ...for just such a job . A lot of this you have to take the pipe out, no stop so ...if you go too deep you'll ruin the piece ...

Looks great! I have Pryor Mt Bill's booklet too. I have a affinity for the English trade guns but the French and Spanish smooths are beautiful too.
