Original Fusil de chasse didn't have the trigger guard inlet but I like to as a little extra thing . It really makes them look a bit slimmer and feels better when holding them too , not so wide and bulky in the grip . Just a bit , not much ....

Ok .... I'm very glad I inlet that trigger guard ... Oh t really looks a LOT better ....the flow and much slimmer . the screws sucked it right down in the inlet too ...its was giving me a lot of trouble , I didn't think it would do that , pull right in there perfectly . I had hoped it would but was expecting another problem ...hmmmm.. Will wonders near cease . Can't find any correct screws so I'll have to weld up these #10 Phillip s screws and then cut a slot in then and file off the plating . Funny how three hardware stores and no slot wood screws and each person you have to explain " No , I can't use brass plated screws , Phillips screws or dry wall screws , it for a gun I'm building " ...and each person looks at you weird and says " Why would it matter what you used ?" So ....all future customers ...dry wall Phillips screws in all your guns . :) Keep looking at the guard area ...really happy with that ....and holding it ....feels great .... Oh yeah , on these French GUns ...the front trigger guard screw , mark where the ramrod terminates ...that space between that mark and the T.G. bow ...thats all you got , make it work ....

Beautiful work @Rob M. !!!
Thanks bud . Almost had the ramrod done too but sun went over trees and watts were gettin low , dont wanna run generator so I called it a night . I almost had the R.R. where I thought it was going to go to battery but it kept hitting something ....took me a sec ...the frikken mainspring on the lock ! UGH ! So ....now I'll have to take out some of the wood of the RR channel from inside the lock mortice .... I'm gonna call this one " Problem Child 2 " The French Connection ... Almost time for lazy seat and Longmire :)

You should name this Fusil "Tempest".

Just wanted to let you know I have not forgotten about the images of Larry’s gun. Our exhibit designer’s wife just had a baby so I will be working with his assistant to get the case open and the images taken. We are also waiting for the midge season to end so we don’t have issues with these little bugs getting into the case. I will be in touch as soon as possible.

Thanks,

No problem. Please take all precautions necessary.
If I've waited this long, then another month or so won't hurt. Even if you have to wait until September.
Always, preservation of the piece is greater than getting pix for some guy in Texas.

That’s very awesome! I would love to see the pictures whenever they are available. I wish I could use the 3D scanner here at work on some original guns.

Ain't THAT the truth! It su#ks! I too am running into the same issue and have resorted to making my own, which is a beyatch because I don't have a welder to do what you can.

Lookie below for how Rich Pierce had to make some large 'dome head' wood screws for a period cartridge box, starting from a carriage bolt. If someone had to hand make EACH and every 'slot head' wood screw for their rifle ... they had better name the ol' girl 'PATIENCE'!
