I'm going to reply so this thread get's put back on post of the "new" threads. Someone will be along shortly and tell you all about where to purchase lead. If you wish to buy them already cast we got that number for you as well.

I've always had good luck at my local scrap yard. It's one of the smaller places run by a guy and not a big company. He just tells me to pick through the scrap barrel and find what I want, weighs it, and tallies it up at whatever the going rate is. I think I paid 1.50/pound last time, but that's been a year or so.

It's a mixed bag though, so you have to pick through for the clean soft stuff.

Look for scrap dealers in your area. Call an ask if they got any. I get some from such a place. Also advertise in local newspaper. You may be suppised what out there.

If all else fails I can get you some if you pay shipping

I would like to buy some lead so I can make some round balls. Can I get some contacts please, much appreciated.
Check around for scrap yards in your area. In Kentucky there has to be several around.
Go to the junkiest, weed-grown, most disorganized one you can find.
That’s where you are most likely to find old lead pipe, roof flashing, etc. and at a decent price.
Since lead is now considered Haz-Mat by various alphabet agencies, fewer and fewer scrap dealers and plumbing suppliers want anything to do with it.
There may be some kind of EPA reporting requirements ( and penalties for not doing so ) that the larger scrap and recycling people don’t want to deal with.

How much you need. I have some ingots, some scraps and some round balls that I probably never use.
The ingots are are a little over 7 ounces each. The soldiers a little over 2 oz each. Assorted lead balls, maybe 5 lbs or so. The scrap are bullets and chunks of lead.
