This is what happens when states allow liberals from California and other socialist states move into their state.
Last I checked no one needs "permission" to live anywhere they choose in the U.S.A. How do you propose Colorado "not allow" people to move there? Start a totalitarian state that dictates where you can live? Gets complicated, doesn't it? In the long run, it's up to the people of Colorado.

Also , do what folks living in Pa. do........If a critter endangers you , or your family, destroy it ,and keep your mouth shut. There's too much protection of dangerous wild animals , too often , intentionally reintroduced in our midst. Super coyotes , cross bred with red wolves ,non-huntable bears , due to poorly planned legal hunting seasons , clandestine stocking of mountain lions back in the early 1990's , bans on killing rattlesnakes. ,the list goes on and on. Once again , govt. regulation over steps logic in the name of Conservation. There's more to this conundrum , but lengthy explanations are unaccepted by most folks , these days.

If everyone who looks at this thread could click on the link & send an email to the sponsors of this bill that would be great!

It’s easy & takes maybe two minutes. The email is already prepared, you just attach your name to it & hit send!

Colorado already got the reintroduction of wolves passed by a very slim margin. We have to stand against ballot box biology & the erosion of our hunting rights. Thanks.

Mushka , what does the three S's , stand for. Guessing that it might be the first letter of words , I call some politicians? ..........Good day sir..,,,,,,,,,oldwood

It's also an indication of what happens when you allow the general populace and legislators to dictate your wildlife programs.

As a rule, the people we elect to office aren't really experts at anything, except staying in office. Then they appoint agency heads that think like they do. And we get screwball policies.

We should (but won't) allow game biologists and people with that expertise run our game and fish departments. Not some bureaucrat with a law degree. No offense intended to the lawyers out there.

Actually, this is what happens when big money special intere$t$ were determined to be 'persons' whose first amendment rights entitle them to unrestrained political speech aka campaign donations. The Colorado mountain lion mangement program, which limits lion hunting to less than 25% of the states's GMUs and is built on harvest limits and target identification to reduce harvest of females and kittens and was doing a good job of allowing reasonable access to hunting and trapping while maintaining healthy populations. But like most states, Colorado game folks dont get near enough money from the legisltature to fund their routine operations much less predator research. The ranch industry , i.e. the "shoot, shovel and shut up" crowd, doesn't want any research..they just want all apex predators exterminated. The Chinese who want luxury spotted fur coats have unlimited budgets and fur buyers and exporters more than willing to take thier cut. Result: the 'reported' harvest of bobcats has quadrupled in 3 years and the folks doing the harvesting havent been very picky about what is 'unreported harvest', including lynx , female lions and kittens. Sheep and cattle ranchers jump on the bandwagon at every opportunity to push for unlimited hunting and taxpayer-funded predator extirmination at somebody else's expense.

Colorado game folks have resisted bobcat harvest regulations, saying there isnt any statistical data regarding harvest levels and population impact- stupid move. Enter a US District Judge who decides last March that Colorado's mountain lion management program is mostly funded by federal dollars but no federally-mandated impact study was done, i.e. "not enough statistics". The Colorado lion management program was shut down in its tracks

PETA and armchair conservation folks are pushing for this, but they only got their toe in the door because other elected lawmakers take tons of campaign dollars and eat plenty of fancy steak dinners courtesy of PACs and lobbyists for the ranchers and fur exporters posing as sportsmen. Politicians promise tax cuts to get votes then claim there isnt enough money to adequately fund game management and research. So rather then adding your name to a pre-printed email or petition, consider writing your own letters to state and federal legislators telling them to give to state game management professionals enough money to do thier jobs rather than constantly trying navigate court rulings and poorly-conceived laws that were introduced / passed to appease special interests.

Oldwood said it best. The 3 "S's". Shoot, shovel and shut up. It's done here in Utah also, especially on feral dogs and cats.

And the cycle continues. As they are removed from being huntable, numbers expand and people complain, and then we bring in professional hunters to address the problem.

well you’ve said a mouthful there…
BTW, do you have links or data that support a quadrupling of bobcat take? Unreported harvesting? I’m reaching out to our local blm Ranger and our local wildlife officers to see if they’re seeing what you’re saying is happening.
At least 70% (by volume) of my business is agribusiness, my customers are farmers and ranchers. I’m not saying SSS never happens but it happens a lot less than you’d think. (Happens all the time in the fevered imaginations of the PETA crowd, and yes, I remember my grandmother shooting at bears who were intent on lamb chops for breakfast) most of the ranchers are supportive and stewards of wildlife on their lands. Some of the best lion hunts take place on the larger ranches locally and that cash means a lot to those people. I grew up here, my family are ranchers, we’re unfairly maligned in almost every article I’ve read about ranching in the past 65 years. (Unless you count Range or The Fence Post.) We have long allowed hunting on our land, bend or break a game law on our property and see what happens. You’ll be reported and never set foot on the place again. We’re law abiding people and make no mistake, we’re your partners here.
