Well made and heavy springs ,Cookson Stamping looks good.Frizzen sparks well.

Ram Rod : Bad Fit/ over sanded/ loose as a goose
Call into wendy to see if they will send a replacement rod :idunno: 1

My Rapine Mould Throws A .685 ball Almost every time
The Bore Measures .685 at the muzzle and seems to be true
the ball is snug right at the muzzle
I did not slug the bore
What Size mould would you suggest I order?
I am thinking around .670 Or .675

Measurements were made with a RCBS Dial Caliper

handles
He will take pay pal
Google his name and the company info will come up

Big D, When you ordered your Cookson did you tell Wendy that you wanted ONLY a .690 only? When I ordered my replacement Bess I told them the bore size that I wanted because I still had the mold that Jeff Tanner had made for my last musket that was stolen,I had to wait for one in .750, until they got another shipment in they had all either under size or way oversize, if you told her .690 they should have gave you what you wanted with you having to wait so long, maybe call and see if they have another with the bore size of .690? for you to swap for, their mistake maybe?

They were told by several e-mails to wendy and peter
Back and forth around 4 times i think
.690 i told them .....smaller would not work for me I dont know what went wrong, but there you go

I shoot a .662 ball from a lyman mold. If you get up here I will give you some .662 balls to try out at our range. I think you are going to really enjoy shooting that Cookson.

Tonight it will age around 30 years
Along with some adjustments to the Frizzen
And a greased bottom for the barrel.
Trigger is O.K. not 3 lbs but not 12 lbs |
.650 Mould shipped from England this morning
No return call from Wendy@middlesex village, about the Caliber delivered or the very ill fitted Rammer.

What is the name of the fella the lines musket barrels.
They say he can line a sewer pipe
This could be a .69 RIFLED Cookson
A true .69 then I could use my Rapine .685
R/B mould .I wonder ........how a 51 inch /Rifled Cookson would shoot with one of these fancy liners
How much does it cost?
can he do 51 inches?

Hello. The fellow that does the barrel liners is Bob Hoyt in PA. I can't seem to locate his phone number at the moment, but others here on the Forum have it. Bob's done several for me and does excellent work and very reasonable. Although they were all smooth bore liners. I know he can do smooth bores ANY length. Don't remember what he said about rifled bores, but I seem to recall the length was longer than expected. I know he can do a rifled liner in shallow groove type rifling like for mini balls. But you should ask about deeper groove type - like you probably want - for traditional round ball shooting. That might require too much interior metal removal to keep it a true .69? Anyway, it would be worth a call to him.
I owned a Cookson -that you might remember you offered to purchase but a guy in Kentucky beat you by about 15 minutes - and you're right, the ram rod is somewhat useless. The small end is too tapered and weak. Steve Bailey - who advertises in Muzzle Blasts - can make hickory rods longer than 48". His phone # 573-547-4540. You have to order 10 at a time. I just received 10 from him all 57" long in different diameters. If you need just one I can probably send one your way. Let me know what diameter you prefer. You can email me direct at [email protected] Good luck with the Cookson. Rick.

Hey,Finaly a guy who can replace my cookson rod. Thanks for the phone #. And BD don't rifle a fowler just get another mold. You are going to want to shoot shot out of her someday

Glad to hear you got your Cookson. Hope it shoots straight. We'll have to get together and do some shootin. :hatsoff:
