You think the admittance to inlines is bad enough, they (NMLRA) sent me a somewhat nasty email about 9 months ago ordering me to remove their banner add from the top of this forum...

They didn't want a link from here, go figure...

If I ain't be'n too nosey,.... what reason did they give ya fer demand'n to have ther banner removed from this site????

Yea, then they went on about copyright laws and such...

Not even a Thank You for the free plug to their cause...

I did get a "Remove it NOW"!!!

Surprisingly, they forgot to say, or else...

Oh well, it's for the best...

What'a bunch'a egotistical self-centered jerks!!

I think tha current NMLRA's Board of Directors have "lost touch" with,.... "reality",.... ther "membership",.... and the "intentions" of ther found'n fathers!!!! :youcrazy: :shake:  :curse:

I think any NMLRA member thet thinks he can "change things from the inside" at this point,.... is either "delusional", or terribly "naive"!!

I hate to see what's happen'n to a "once great organization"!!

I know it's serious to a lot of you, but my opinion is "Lighten up". If you don't like it, when your subscription runs out, don't renew it. Simple as that. I love muzzleloading. I'm 30 years old, and just got into it, with another friend of mine and my wife's family. My friend has a flintlock, and I've got a GPR capper. He tells me I might as well just shoot a center rifle gun, with all that "new technology" I'm using. I tell him to quit living in the past, and get into the 1800's! I know it sucks, but I hope no one lets these people get to them too much. Have fun! That's what it's all about. Oh yeah, being a rookie, I love the free advice I get from you guys. I much rather learn from people like you, then an organization in it to make money. My MANY worthless cents.

Brandon,.... Welcome to the Muzzleloading Forum!!

I realize I'm git'n old,... when I see thet I've been shoot'n muzzleloaders since before some of you fellers were born!! :haha: :haha:

In fact I've been a member of the NMLRA (off'n on) fer most of the last 30 yrs.,.... I cain't help but comment, when I see whats happened to the NMLRA these last 5-7 years, it almost seems to me, as though some "greedy insiders" are try'n to kill an "old friend"!!

P.S.,.... I bet yore friend with tha flintlock, is jest kid'n ya 'bout use'n "modern technology", I do tha same thing to my friends ('cept when I'm shoot'n my percussions :winking: :haha:)!!

Just for the record, I do not belong to the NMLRA, I almost joined once back in 1982, but I had a bad experience at "Friendship" and that killed it for me...

So, as Groucho Marx once said:
"I won't belong to any club that's willing to have me as a member..."

just sent them an e-mail telling them to change their logo to show inlines since they are more interested in inlines than preserving the traditional heritage of their founders, and told them thats why they lost 10k members and why i changed my mind about joining. :curse: :curse: :curse:

TMA ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

I just finished and email to the NMLRA. I let them know that I no longer support them and will not renew my membership when it expires in March '05...

That's one method, but if you care about an organization and want to see it improve, good things can come from people voicing their options and relating their experiences.

This Forum is a good example of how input can cause change. Over the years, our members have offered suggestions and criticisms and much of what you see today is a result of their input.

Relax... It was probably their lawyers who told them to tell you to stop using their logo. The lawyers probably told them of the famine, pestilence, flood and/or wrath of the Almighty that would surely come to pass if they didn't make you stop. Its a lawyer thing... to protect their copyrights, nothing personal, I'm sure.

Yeah Claude...I really like the way the "traditional hunting forum" was developed>>>>>>>(VBG)

I find it kind'a "ironic" thet the NMLRA is now ask'n our fellow Muzzleloading Forum members fer "recipes" to comprise a "cookbook", which will be sold in order to provide funds fer the NMLRA's improvements and build'n "projects"!!!!

(All my recipes are "copyrighted", so IF they want'em, they'll haf'ta "PAY" fer'em!! :m2c:)

I just read a nice email from Mr Bye, the editor of muzzleblasts, and boiled down to it's elements, he said that they cater to inlines because the companies have lots of money. He also said that the traditional makers and similar businesses don't like to advertise. In other words "money rules, so dump the fools!" I fired back with more common sense that he couldn't ignor, so he responded with another email thanking me for the views. In both responses he always had a "there's room for both views" disclaimer which was worded in a very rehearsed way that didn't seem genuine. I told him that the exodus now was just a trickle compared to what it will be if they continue down this path.

I am begining to wonder if they even care. if they did why not make a post to the major forums like this with their case ????

I think it's a classic case of what happens to any independently started operation or organization where there was once a true purpose and passion for it's existence.

But then over time, attrition takes it's toll on the original founders, new people, some of whom are on ego trips / power trips get into key positions, and the organization takes on a life of it's own...it's operated for the purpose of keeping the organization alive, and no longer for the purpose it was originally established.

You see it all the time with businesses owned and funded by stock holders...they must remain solvent, even if it means completely diversifying and/or gutting a long established product line for something new...organizations / businesses eventually become nothing more than "engines" to perpetuate themselves, not hold fast to an original theme.

the problem here though RB is that they are trying to stay up to day when the whole basis of the org is that the members ship dosnt want to be up to date .
you would think they would want to be 200 years behind the times and proud of it
