What determines which gun you're going to shoot on a given day? Maybe you bring several. I only bring one at a time, since I'm lazy about cleaning. Just for kicks, I'm gonna start lowest to highest in caliber, starting with my NAA .22 Super Companion and ending with my .76 cal smoothy. After that, it will probably be random. Thanks

I too try not to get more than one dirty in a day. Recently I have been choosing my flintlock in order to save my caps. When caps come back on the market I may shoot my CVA Mountain Rifle more. I have other options also. For me it tends to be a spur of the moment decision.

We recently had five stars in alignment. I allocated .10 inches to each star. Giving me .50 caliber. That's my Traditions Kentuckyish.

When I'm feeling especially Trumpy, the .45 Jukars get taken out for a spin. I have two of them. One for each of Trump's term in office.

Today we learned that Tucker Carlson has left Fox News. Tucker Carlson (TC). Yup. Thompson Center day.

With muzzle loaders it is usually one at a time, maybe a long gun and pistol. I really don’t like cleaning them so sometimes I pick one because it is hooked breech and I can “pump” it clean. Have been known to choose a smooth bore just because they clean easier. Did I mention I don’t like cleaning them?

They's all fun. Sometimes I dig one out that's been lonely for a long time, dig it out, find the right stuff, and walk over to my range. Other times, I'll see an interesting thread on here about something I have and go play with mine.

Huntin' seasons "require" a certain type, so that's what gets attention for awhile. This week it's turkey guns. End of May, squirrel guns. Etc. Etc.

Depends on the day.

Just target or plinking? I may take them all, may take one, may take a few. Depends on if it's just me or if it's a family shoot (happens regularly).

Working up a load? Just the one I'm focused on.

BP season? 45 or 50 caplocks. Regular season? Another 50.

Squirrel? 45 Jukar.

Just roaming the woods? Caplock 50 carbine.

I always tote my 1858. And it gets shot pretty much every time I go out.

Last time my oldest Son came up to the camp to shoot we got carried away and shot 6 different rifles, flint and percussion. Never again, I was cleaning guns till after the cows came home. I’m back to shooting one at a time.

Bushfire......Speaking of your comment about , " where the flints go." Think I might tell you where to watch. The flints go away with the smoke , unnoticed. Think it's been that away since those rock/spark guns began. I can testify , I've not seen through the smoke , so the conclusion is , that's the escape route...........Good shooting to you. .....oldwood...:dunno:

Last time I went I took 2 rifles and 3 pistols. Shot all morning and cleaned all of them with water heated on my campfire. Was camping all weekend. I didn’t mind it. Yeah there are more fun things to do than clean, but it’s not that hard or time consuming.

I shoot at a public range that only has one shooting lane. so if someone is already there you can either wait or shoot at the same distance as them. so I typically bring a cap and ball revolver, a 32 cal rifle to shoot at 25 yards, and a 45 cal to shoot at either 50 or 100 yards. that way I can shoot no matter if I have the range to myself or not.

One day I was shooting at a local sportsman's club range. A local cop swat team group showed up to practice their shooting skills. Can't tell you what their tricked out rifles were ,as I'm not up on modern stuff. Was a funny situation for me , here I was blazing away with a loud , smokey .50 cal. "tricked out " long rifle , ( had a peep sight , instead of open rear sight). They put up with me , ok , and I was almost finished when they came. They shot a while, the cops went down , and changed their targets . They came back to the covered benches, where we were , and I heard one whisper to another , whose stapler is left sitting on the target stand??. Next , the two miscreants took their fancy rifles , counted to three , and vaporized their fellow cop's stapler. At that ,I had accomplished my shooting mission , packed up my toys and departed. When I see that crew at the range , I go to another range a couple miles away. I just don't fit in with those folks.......oldwood

My SIL shoots my flintlocks, cuz he only has a cap lock. Guess who cleans them? You are spoiling your son and doing all the work yourself! Just my two cents.

I agree, and he does share the cleaning or he’ll do it all, but this time he was cooking a dinner for the family, so he got the slide.
