Anyone notice any difference in performance between the gray English and the French amber flints?
It seems like the French amber flints might last a little longer than the gray English flints in my guns. Maybe.
But, I prefer my homemade flints made from rocks found here on the farm. They work just as good as any others and they’re free..
Interesting! I think I’ve found the opposite to be true for me.
Us TMF members can’t ever seem to agree on anything, can we?
Haha! Finally— something I can agree with!Yep! It would be terribly boring if we did!
In the true spirit of the mountain man. Good on you!I really do prefer my homemade flints though to the store bought ones because they’re free, they work and I enjoy making them. I actually have very few store bought flints. I’d rather make them.
The British Empire was forged with British Flint!Anyone notice any difference in performance between the gray English and the French amber flints?
I’ve been using the English flints from TOTW in my Kibler .40 SMR, and I’m really lucky to get 25-30 shots out of one. Sometimes not more than 15.Depends on which rifle I am using, both of my Kiblers seem to go through black English flints faster while my Pedersoli chews through the French Amber flints like they are toffies.
