I'm getting back into muzzleloading after a 15 year hiatus, and it sure seems like there are far more choices as far as suppliers (flints, bullet molds, patches, lubes etc.) I have no problem with the big companies, and have a Cabelas, Gander Mountain etc. close by, just wondering if you all had any recommendations ?? I like to support small American businesses especially. Thanks.

Track of the wolf is an excellent place to do business with. Dixie gun works and the gun works are very good too.

You're from Pa., Cabelas in Hamburg, or Cabelas in Wheeling is close? If Hamburg, a couple exits east, Rt. 737 Kutztown exit , and about 4 miles north is Dixons Muzzleloading. Family owned shop, great people, and pretty good selection of just about everything you could want!

Just keep your head down when you are in the store, especially the back half of the building. Looking up could be dangerous to your wallet!

And if you are in the Susquehanna Valley, Ft. Chambers is off of I-81 in Chambersburg!

Yeah, Track & Dixie have gotten about 94% of my scheckles thru the years. Also check out the "Links" page here, lots of listings for most anything you need and most are small business that cater to our hobby. Always nice to send them some of our muzzleloading dollars! :hatsoff:

Track of the Wolf probably gets most of my business because they have almost everything and an excellent website.

I also use Jedediah Starr out of Michigan as they have a pretty good selection as well, though not quite as sophisticated a storefront. http://www.jedediah-starr.com/custompage.asp?page=1

Dixons dont appear to have any online sales capability?

No, just flintlock and caplock era, along with all the stuff associated with them! The modern ones you can hit the Hamburg Cabelas on the way in or out!
I think he is referring to an online (as in computer) website, not those **line things. And while I'm at it I will add another voice for Dixons. It is literally Mecca for all things black powder and certainly worth a trip just to drool.

Log Cabin , Dixie, and Track of the Wolf are all good people for supplies and accesories. :idunno:

Catalog purchases or phone purchases:

Tip Curtis Frontier Shop
Track of the Wolf
Muzzleloader Builders Supply
Log Cabin
Cains Outdoors
If you are close to Dixons, I would try them as well. (Worthy of a trip there too)

I never use Dixie any more...... They are always Out of Stock of what I need, or what I get I consider poor quality.
TOW is bad about Backorder of stock items at times. ASK for avail when ordering. For me they are slow on shipping & cost ya $6-8 bucks for shipping a simple screw.
Tip Curtis is the cheapest & fastest on shipping costs for me, small items like screws & small parts. I buy allot of dif. parts from Tip. He is not always the cheapest, but I don't shop for cheapest, I want Quality. I can depend on the quality of what I get from Tip.

On Locks, buy direct from the manufacturer & better customer service.(IMHO) I like Jim Chambers locks the best. Superb locks, Lifetime Warranty, & wonderful people to deal with.
