Olive à Marseilles, circa 1750. Round barrel divided by chiselled bands with smooth bore in 17 mm calibre. The breech is engraved with gilded vine and rocaille ornamentation. Finely cut flintlock engraved with the signature "Olive à Marseille". A full stock of beautifully figured thuja root wood carved with decorative vines. Butt stock has a few old wormholes. Silver furniture with engraved and relief decoration and a number of hallmarks. Large silver barrel bands richly embossed with decorative rocaille.

boy ya could spend lots an lots of euros at that auction! thanks undertaker! got some nice lookin guns there!.. :hmm: how much is a euro? :shocked2: RC
 
Wow ! That auction site is an outstanding resource. Huge selection of original ( well, let's say "apparently" original ) longarms with good images of each. I can't think of any other website where I've seen that many pieces from the early 18th century well photographed in one place. Great reference imagery.

As for the French Fowler - it must have been one wealthy hunter who commisiioned that piece ! Will probably wind up in a rich man's collection once again, eh ?
