I am thinking about buying the tulle .62 that TVM offers for $1100. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Good or Bad?
They offer the left hand gun for the same price is why Im leaning that way.

Thanks William

I think TVM offers a decent muzzleloader at a pretty fair price. I have an Early Virginia that they built, and a kit that I am building. They allow folks the opportunity to have a gun built for much less money than many other builders. Some of their techniques may be less than traditional, but that is how they come in at their price point. All in all, I have had no problems dealing with them. Good luck.

Depends on what you want. Obviously you are not worried about period correct as gun of that type wan't made in a left hand version originaly.....though there has been archeological evidence recovered of at least one chief's grade fusil that had a left hand lock....poor s.o.b. probably had lost and eye or a hand. :shake:

Anyway, consider their fowler as it has a more forgiving stock design that should be more comfortable to shoot....Tulles are notorious cheek smackers. And since it's not a copy of any particular production model it would be more correct if you ever find yourself leaning that way....and it will have higher resale value if you ever lean that way instead.

The first question you need to ask 'em though is if they will supply it with a tapered barrel, both the octagon and the round section....I'm sure they can build it around a Colerain, no reason they can't. Guys have bought smooth bores off TVM before they advertised their "special straight barrel" and were very dissapointed in the gun because of its weight.

Word is that they are very accomodating, so should have no trouble working with you. Enjoy, J.D.

You might want to check with Jackie Brown, he makes some nice guns at a very reasonable price.

Check with alex emfremko who is a member here. He is likely the one with the most knowledge on these guns. I saw one of his at Fort Ticonderoga several weeks ago and it was gorgeous. Very light.

....and by "these guns" you mean TVLLE's or course, not TVM's or Jackie Browns!

Alex does know his trade guns. Enjoy, J.D.

Check out Larry Cordray out of Pa., H E builds a HC, PC at a very reasonable price, you won't be disappointed and your bank won't be empited

I've never owned a TVM Tulle but I do have a TVM early American fowler. Though the barrel is not tapered, the gun is still just 7-7.5 pounds. I didn't want a tapered barrel in this case. You can specify a tapered barrel (and any lock) and Matt will build you a fine gun. Yes, the Tulle does have a reputation as a "cheek smacker" and is why I chose the EA fowler.

Larry lives in Southeastern Ohio, in Morgan county. In my opinion he leaves too much wood on his stocks for them to be historically accurate.
