Hello all!

I have been looking at the Lyman .570 round ball mould for casting round balls for my future 58 caliber Kodiak and I have learned that the Lyman mould leaves quite a sprue on the top of the ball when cast.

I would like to find a quality .570 round ball mould that would cast a ball with a tangent face to the ball, or without such a sprue. I have already looked at the cheap LEE moulds but they only have a mould for the .575 diameter round ball and nothing for the .570 diameter.

Any suggestions on a round ball mould manufacture? I don't think I have the money to go custom.

:thanks:

Nord, LEE does list a .562 rd ball mould in the Midsouth catalog. That size ball may work ok in your .58 cal rifle with a little thicker patch. Just a thought.

Are you sure you can't use a .575 ball. I use it a .575 ball with a ticking patch in my .58cal GM barrel and it works quite well. The Lee moulds leave virtually no sprue.

Well from what I have read the Kodiak only uses the .570 ball with a .012 to .015 patch...I would need some really thin patch material to get a .575 ball to seat.

I really wish I could just buy a .570 mould from LEE and be done with it!

:hmm:

:thanks:
