Well don't know how I missed this thread but here goes! :stir: :2
When I first started hanging around this forum even before I officaly became a member I started hearing about Hoppes #9 Black Powder Lube and Solvent.
Now for you traditonalist that belive in the naturals this is where you excercise your right too change the channel.
Not that I don't repsect your right too belive that way as I am sure you respect my right to my opinion!
Well I am waiting............... :nono: (now that they have left this discussion) back to the subject at hand and I believe by the tittle that was
Hoppes
As an over the counter product I believe you will find no finer.
I live in an area where we have extremely high humidty at least 9 months of the year and alot of days the other 3 months. Now I will admit our cold doesn't rival the Northern or Western states but I have shot in 25*-30* weather with it and no problems arose.
My point is using hoppes and real black GEOX, I have shot up too 25+ shots without as much as a wipe between shots and never noticed fouling that was a problem in accuracy or any other way.
I did an experiment here a while back still using the same combo I tried a squirt of Traditons bore cleaner (that orange water looking stuff) on a patch and followed by a completely new patch in between shots. Within 15 shots the fouling had become so bad it was backing out of the flash channel, thru the drum and into the nipple, causing misfires and before the final misfire accuaracy had begun to suffer!
I then did a field cleaning with water and dry patched with an alachol dampened patch. I them went back to shooting and put another 25 plus shots thru the gun with GEOX and patches lubed with Hoppes and not so much as a wipe between shots. Accuracy was great and fouling wasn't bad when
I then ran a patch at 25 shots.
I then put about another 15 shots down the barrel without patching and called it a day! Upon my arrival at home I cleaned with warm water and patched dry. Now I don't know what most folks would say about a lube that works that way but I'd give it an A+!!!!!!!!
Oh, by the way I was into our local Sports Academy last year and they had placed a bunch of the smaller bottles of Hoppes, I think they are the 8oz on sale. I got to talking to a salesman and he said they had be found in the storeroom and they had been there for a while. They hadn't even bothered to dust off the bottles before putting them out.
He said they had dropped price because they couldn't sell them. Sports Academy deals mostly in the infernal inlines so of course they weren't selling.
I asked him what they were asking for them, he checked and replies $1.99 plus tax. I immediatley picked up the box they were in and bought all five bottles they had! :haha: :youcrazy: :blah:
Check this link and you'll see why I snatched them up!
