Chief, Have you tried bacon fryings for a patch lube? It might not help your scores but it would surely drive everyone close to you crazy trying to figure out who had the bacon sandwiches, LOL......robin :hmm:

You may be onto something Robin. I'm going to give your devious idea some thought! :haha:

Best regards, Skychief

If you actually do plan to give bacon drippings a try as a patch lube, you had better be sure to de-salt the drippings before using them. Of course, once you get all of the salt out, you have plain old lard that you can buy at any grocery store and it is already nice and clean. While lard will make a pretty good patch lube, it won't have the nice bacony smell of bacon drippings. But once you go through the process of removing all of the salt from bacon drippings, they won't have that nice odor either. They will just smell like lard.

I once was trying using cornmeal as a filler on top of my powder. It works. But as I was loading between shots, one of my fellow shooters came up to me and asked what the heck I was shooting. I told him about my brand, granulation and number of grains of powder and then told him that I was using cornmeal over my powder. He said "Hmmm, I was wondering why I was getting hungry for cornbread." Truly, each shot had a very noticeable smell of toasted cornmeal.

That's my old site. I still sell the lube which can be found on here in the sponsors market area.
