I like to peruse the guns on ToW just to look and drool from time to time. Now this gun is going to be out of the budget of most of us, and even if I could afford it, I'd be too afraid of damaging it, but what a BEAUTIFUL Jaeger! Truly an exceptional work of art.

Have a gander and enjoy!

Brian Le Master could build me a gun any day (if I could afford it!)

Like you I go to TOW every so often to look over what's available. That one is beautiful but $$$$$

That is exceptional. Beautiful as it is, I would shoot it.
As always, with these Jaeger threads, I offer to e-send a great 1971 article out of American Rifleman about Jaegers. Just PT me with your e-mail address. Costs me nothing, I'm happy to do it.

Hi,
I love jaegers also but I am not that enamoured by this one. It is certainly an ambitious work but the the quality of the work does not justify the price.

PS Rifleman1776 - I was thinking of you folks after hearing of the storms. I hope you came through unscathed.

It a good looking Jaeger, but no rifle is worth $11,500.00 :shocked2:. I don't care how much inlay and carving you do to it. The man is a nut case :youcrazy: . I could buy 3 good used cars for that kind of money. I see maybe $3000.00 for it.

Did ya'll see the prices for some of those Rifles? $7.000.00, $9.000.00, a couple of 4 thousand dollar ones, a 5 thousand dollar one? :rotf: . I know now where to go to get a laugh.

Thanks, Dave. The tornados hit about 75 miles south of me. I know people affected.

Something is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it.
But, even at the $11G+ price, I doubt the maker is making much of a profit. Time has value and even gun builders need to put beans on the table.

.54 caliber and 36" barrel in a Jaeger is a long barrelled, squirrel rifle. For that price I'd of asked for at least a .58, and a shorter barrel...but that's just me.

It is a myth they were all, or mostly, big calibers. Most were mid range but there were some pumpkin tossers.

What's running through someone's head when they put an engraved long bow and arrows on a rifle? :hmm:

There is a tradition in that but I don't know what it is. Such things are not unusual on old rifles. My Rev. period rifle has a hog head with arrows in his mouth engraved.

Hi Folks,
Please don't misunderstand my comment above. I thoroughly support a maker charging a high price if the work justifies it. IMO, this rifle is simply not sufficiently well done to command a premium price. The maker has some talent but he needs to develop more skill before tackling something this ambitious and then selling it at that asking price. The carving is lifeless and the scrolls show many rough curves. The engraving is not well executed, certainly not of the quality found on jaegers considered high end, which this one tries unsuccessfully to emulate. The maker needs to perfect his craft before trying to produce art. Just my opinion of course.
