I recently made a fancy linstock for a 4th of July cannon shoot.  Here are the parts and the assembled linstock:

I didn't ask that question very well, sorry. It seems obvious they weren't that fancy and well crafted. What I was curious about was whether they were functionally similar to that, with the match threaded through two keepers for control.

I have seen several pictures of originals and they were made all different ways. All had some sort of keeper on the lit end. Some had additional keepers or were enclosed in metal tubes to keep the match from getting wet. Most were just a simple wood stick with a cross hole in one end and the rest of the match wound around the shaft and knotted to keep the unlit end in place.
