I am looking for a period style sling for a Brown Bess. Most of the online stores that have reviews on slings rate them very low. I am also looking for a bayonet scabbard. I found a bunch available and have no idea what to get. I have a pedersoli bayonet if that helps. Sorry I am new to all this and have bought things in the past that are pretty bad quality and hope someone can pass on some info.

If I remember correctly Dixie gun works carries both. As far as quality, I have had mixed results from Dixie, more good than bad but I have gotten a couple of defective or crappy products from them. Of course they will except a return but you are out shipping costs. I would guess their slings to be pretty good based on other items I,ve bought.

Third vote for Godwin. U may question the price a bit, but, when the products arrive you'll understand...

If you are looking to join a unit, then your first step should be to check out what they actually use. There are a couple of options for what slings are correct for various time periods and units.

Nothing against GGG - I like them quite well, but I have seen good things come from Najecki

Actually, I just made my own slings with a strap cutter, strap tip cutter, proper leather and correct hardware from GGG or Najecki.

Thank you for the info. I will place the order with GGG when they get back from vacation.
