Just traded for a interesting project this week. I shoot with the N-SSA and was telling an old guy about it and he told me about a old musket that he had in the basement. I went to see it and was able to talk him out of it. He had gotten it at a sale years before and didn't know the history. It is a M-1842 Springfield smoothbore. Barrel is cut back to 36 in. and the butt stock was lovingly put into a slab of concrete about 2 in. thick. Now it is a cool lamp everyone would want...I will crack the slab tonight and play like I am removing a fossil. I'll send somemore pics of the progress later. I am in the need of a top and middle band and ramrod incase anyone has one laying around. I am thinking of reworking it into a C.S. Macon type 2 with a 34in. barrel.
