More curl than I expected with this stock.I’m seeing some pretty wood starting to show!! Will it have a wood patch box?
It sure beats looking at pictures! Those are great examples to go by.
Best to work on it with a clear head and no distractions. That’s where I’m at too. I want to get all my spring chores done while it’s still cool. The chores are as close to work as I get. Then I’ve got all summer in an air conditioned shop to work on my builds.
Same here. I really like that rifle.I love the color treatment on the lower wooden patchbox rifle. Very warm
Thank you sir!I’m enjoying your build Jack. Thank you for allowing us to follow along.
Today I went to my teachers shop and worked on the rifle for a few hours.
Our next step was to square up the back of the barrel.

Then cut the breech plug tang down and file it square.

Installing the breech plug. My teacher has all of the cool tools!

After we had the breech plug installed we made several small bends in the tang to match the line of the wrist.

Here we're taking a look at how the Davis double set triggers will line up with the sear.

We did some work on the the trigger guard tenons so I can continue to file and shape in my shop.

Jim Chambers is the only one I know of that sells Davis triggers with extra high blades.
Davis 4's from Chambers as Mike said. What Davis trigger did you use? I used their dst 6 on my build and the trigger bar was much shorter than yours. I had to solder on a piece of metal to properly reach the sear bar.
I see a little bit of light at the end of this long tunnel and then I have a Pecatonica kit I'll be teaching my 12 year old son on, and 3 more barrels for more builds.Cool beans man! Closer every day.
Thanks! I've never made one. I'll be getting some help from Jeff Talbert over at his shop.Looks very nice. Enjoy making the wood box, I really enjoyed making one. Very time consuming step, but a step I really liked doing.
