I wanted to share my Tip Curtis smoothbore with the group. Tip describes this as a Dubbs Fowler. I think it more a smooth rifle.

It sure shoots great. I used it at the Forum woods walk at Friendship last weekend.

What are your thoughts? Is there such a thing as a Dubbs Fowler or is that his invention?

Seeing you bang a few steel targets with that gun on our woodswalk almost makes me a believer in barrels without "Scratches"..!! :hatsoff:

I have that same stock from him with a colerain 44" turkey barrel. I alway wondered about the dubbs thing? It feels like a cross between a rifle and a fowler. how is it on the cheek when fired?

take some close ups please.. say he used a siler lock in yours, i was trying to figure out if i could get a late ketland ao a va lock in that stock. Since they are pre-carve.

Just went to Tip's shop last week. What a fine gentleman. Never tried to influence my decision on what rifle I wanted. He was extremely helpful in finding the gun that fit me. Looked at the guns in the rack and he said "if you don't see something you like I will build whatever you want". Picked out the stock and the other parts from his inventory. What a selection he has. Spent 2 enjoyable hours looking at guns and talking about guns. Hope I can go back again someday. I would highly recommend a trip to his shop for anyone who likes these guns.

The cheek weld is perfect for a rifle  it seems to line up perfectly every time I shoulder it. Have not tried and wing shooting yet though.

I really like this gun. After a few hundred rounds down range, I would say we have bonded.
