You can't just assume black powder is black powder. If you handload cartridge rifles, you find powders with very similar burn rates perform differently, be it accuracy or powder fouling. Same happens with black powder, different climate conditions can make a big difference in the performance. That's why it's a good idea to try out any available powders.
