You're making the (in this case unwarranted) assumption that I care whether or not you or anyone else agrees/dismisses/ignores my comment.

Note: I normally get paid for doing the sort of research that finding the precise PBS source would require. = This would not be a case of looking at the PBS programming schedule for 15 minutes; instead, it will likely take several hours.
You may also want to reread the last sentence of #1601686.

Wafles are shown in the paintings you posted above, not sure but thinking there Dutch. should the pilgrims not have known waffles from England bet they could have learned it in the Netherlands.

I'm making no assumptions nor does it matter to me whether you agree or not.

Allow me to repeat myself for emphasis:
The burden of proof ALWAYS lies with the one making the claim. If you can't back up your claim with evidence, then others are free to dismiss/ignore your claim as baseless.

"Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur",
(What is freely asserted is freely deserted.)

I fear you have tarnished your reputation.... :shake:

I fear that you "just don't get" that I really don't care.
Those here who know me know that I'm HONEST.
Those who don't know me are FREE to believe/not believe, as pleases them.

In any case, I do NOT ever do "homework" & I've told you precisely why I do NOT. = "NUFF said."

No worries - you've made it abundantly clear you don't care.

What you forget is that very few people know you and we only have what you post to judge you by. Either way, if you can't provide evidence, then what you wrote isn't worth the electricity used to post it....

You are also to hold ANY opinion, including smart/silly/intelligent/ignorant opinions.

That's called FREEDOM of expression/thought.

As I think I explained fully, those who demand proof of a source are seldom satisfied with ANY proof no matter how well documented.
(May I remind you that there are many people who still don't believe that men ever landed on the Moon?? Their disbelief does not alter the FACT that the USA did land there more than once.)

Even freedom of expression has limits.

Imagine the world if people could make unsubstantiated claims and expect others to prove them. It would be a world filled with politicians and quacks...

I don't need any "proof" to be "satisfied"....

Simply admit that you were wrong and I'll be satisfied... :hmm:

Reportedly, the Pilgrims brought waffle irons with them to America in 1620....
Making it possible that the first American pancake was actually a waffle.... :hmm:
That's true, and I have the original waffle iron to prove it. It's that round one.

No source, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Actually you freedom of expression has virtually no limits. = At least in the USA, you can choose to believe (and in most cases say, unless it becomes libel/slander,) most ANYTHING no matter how ignorant, uneducated, silly and/or ridiculous.

Then there's the "pizzelle" which has been around a long time as well.

I can't help but wonder about the reasoning behind fabricating such elaborate shapes for food...
Was it for aesthetics, function, ceremonial reasons, or a status symbol...... :hmm:

Probably did the waffle irons that way for the same reason we decorate firearms way above what is necessary to function. Also, the wife probably told him to get the fancy one. How often do we buy appliances, tools, cars etc. with way more stuff than needed to get the basic job done?

Aren't those the Italian "sort of waffle cookies" that are made into the outside of cannolis?
Yes, but you don't have to roll them. You can leave them flat and let them cool. They are waffle-like, except much thinner. Different batter too.
