Those are decent kits. You can make a nice carbine out of that.
I built one a few years ago. I added sling swivels and a sling to it.

Did it happen to come with a choice between that side plate and the Bess 2nd Model sideplate? I ask as Dixie Gun Works offers a kit and you get both the trade gun sideplate like yours, and this sideplate:

Yes it has the sideplate in your picture under the serpent one. I am probably going to use the one you posted there.

Yeah, you can just make out the name PEDERSOLI if you look close at the photo that shows that view of the breech end.

That's a very good looking gun. I've seen them before and like them better than the full size gun.
