That's why I said in a earlier reply, "Your pistols short rifle barrel will at least be as accurate as a patched ball in a smoothbore and probably more accurate. "

With a round ball the deflecting forces I mentioned in my last post only start to have an effect beyond 15 yards or so. Even at 25 yards it isn't very noticable.
This is especially true with a pistol where a slight tensing of a muscle anywhere in a persons upper body can easily mis-direct the shot.
 
Seems like a fast twist barrel used with flat points sized to work like maxi's could be some real thumpers. Reckon you would need to figure out the basics on how big a bore to go with. Probably could use a grip like the "saw handle" style dueling pistols. There's really no reason you couldn't rival the performance of "modern". And target loads with roundball should still work just fine for dutch oven sized critters. Uh oh, I feel a project coming on.
