Mobile-1 synthetic or Amsoil synthetic grease. both work well in the northern cold. never tried Vaseline so will have to give that a try this winter when the temp's get below the -20 temp.

Crisco over the loaded balls has always worked well and it seems to add to the little gob of grease in the exposed pin area.

I use Hoppe's or Rig gun grease on all my revolvers for base pins, ratchets and bolt cams. Mike D.
