I bought this rifle new from the importer at his near Santa Fe biz back in 1978? Also had a 53 cal mould but it didn't shoot well and I rebarreled it to 50 of identical dimensions. Don't remember which Green River or Green Mtn. Shot great then. Been sitting in closet since 1980. Good looking Hawken. If the barrel has seven grooves, it is probably from Green River Rifle Works. If it has eight grooves, it is more likely Green Mountain. This is a significant detail to some folks, if you don't mind checking and letting us know.

The 8 groove barrel is >60" twist and clean. No rust on the Hoppe patch I used to estimate twist. Shipping in a new Plano guncase will be around $50. The NEI .502 mould is $75 shipped.
